Lindy's picks UC 12th in the Big East
Lindy's hatefest of UC basketball continues this season as the Cats are picked behind Marquette, St. John's to finish 12th in league. The last two season UC has been picked by said mag no higher than 14th. When Huggs was coaching UC, the Cats were very rarely in their top 25.

I will be shocked if UC finishes that low this season. ND 5th huh, Pitt, Marquette, St. John's all ahead of the Bearcats???? UC will finish higher than 12th even ifLance doesn't show up this season; however, if the Cats do finish 12th say goodbye to Mick.

Well Athlon picked UC One and Done, which is reasonable for the basketball team. The football team was picked to win the Big East. The funny thing about the bball team write up in Lindy's is that the comments about the players are not that off.

RE: Lindy's picks UC 12th in the Big East
I dont know, simple logical thinking puts UC at least in top 8. You return an all-big east level senior guard. Yancy Gates was an all-freshman player, who should be better this year. The league is not as good as last year. Oh and UC added what Decoursey called the 2nd or no worse than 3rd best basketball player in this class, Lance Stephenson.

At the end of the day, who cares. Who the hell is Lindy anyway.

Makes no sense. UC has finished lower than this only once since joining the Big East. And we all know the circumstances. Now when they have their most talented and deep team since joining the conference they're picked 12th? No way.

So from where I sit we have two outcomes:

A) UC proves all those "experts" wrong and Mick is coach of the year.

2) UC winds up in the lower portion of the Big East and we start looking for a new coach.

If he has a major injury free year, I can't see a lot of wiggle room.

if mick finishes 12th or worse and there's no legit reason (ex: injury), he's got to be gone, doesn't he? that'd be his 2nd worst finish here, despite having his most talented squad. he'd have to hit the road at that point...

Lindy is a *******.

The goals for this year are simple, at least to me.

1) Make the NCAA's, even if they are one and done, I don't care, just get there.
2) Win at least one freakin' game in the Big East torney.

Anything less is a failure, IMO. If Lance ends up not being cleared, Mick might want to go ahead and start finding some boxes to load his stuff in.

so were now talking about what if uc finishes 12th or worse and micks fate? all from some worthless magazine prediction...we've seen how well prognosticators from uc football.

look last years team looked good as they beat west virginia and seemed poised for ncaa. then mike williams saga began and team melted down. mick has some big new pieces this year, a senior deonta vaughn, a more seasoned yancy gates, etc. i see no reason not to be very optimistic this year.

Unless Mick gets caught banging women in restaraunts after hours, gets a DUI in Fairfax with video AND gets busted for making improper phone calls to recruits this season, he aint going anywhere.

my statement in no way said that i thought they'd finish 12th or worse. there is plenty of reason to be optimistic, and yeah, i cautiously am. we have good talent (even without lance), and i see no reason we should not get to the NCAA's, once again even without LS. my point is, with all the tools in place and 4 years on the job, if Mick finishes 12th or worse (not saying he is/will, but heaven forbid he does), how can you rationalize that and keeping him on as head coach?

PS - for what it's worth, after seeing the BE schedule, put me on record as saying UC will finish 6th with LS eligible and playing...
