The associate commissioner of the Big 12 is officially on record as saying they look forward to signing the contract and participating in the bowl. Does anyone think the NCAA is going to screw the Big 12 or that the New York Yankees will be unable to come up with the sponsorship dollars? This game is a done deal and the NCAA Certification Committee meeting next April will be nothing but a rubber stamp session.

Thing is, they will not make that complaint, because they have all the loot from the good bowl tie-ins.

Nor will our 12-4 bowl record garner much respect as long as lots of those wins come against non-BCS opposition.

We really do need to hold the Big East admins feet to the fire over the lousy bowl tie-ins. But beyond that, of course you are right - all we can do for now is win the bowls that we have and (even more important) travel well to them.

Maybe this Yankee Bowl thing will come through for us ...

Especially the SEC and Big10 where a 6-6 teams will still travel 20-25K fans for any given bowl game.

Are you kidding me? Do you really believe that any 6-6 team travels 20-25K? Come on Cyberbull. UC has traveled very well to its last two bowl games. The major issue that the Big East is fighting is perception.

I was at the Music City Bowl in 04 for a 6-5 Bama team against 6-5 Minnesota. Bama had a solid 50k there. The Gophers brought another 15k I'd say.

Not jumping into your debate here, just throwing in a few cents from personal experience with SEC and Big 10 teams.

I wouldn't base anything on what Alabama does, or doesn't do. You must remember, 90,000 Tide fans showed up for the first practice Saban held...

That's true. It's also hard to gauge how the SEC schools travel to bowls that aren't in the south. Most of their tie-ins are in an SEC state, or very close to one. It's a lot closer from Tuscaloosa, Knoxville, or Baton Rouge to St.Petersburg than it is from Syracuse, Louisville, or Morgantown.

The upper half of the SEC and Big 12 South are different planets, but I don't see any reason why the Big East can't be consistently better than the entire ACC and most of the Big Ten and Pac 10.
