RU - Howard game thread
RU fumbles on the kickoff. Howard recovers at the 25. Not a good way to start the game.

Is this even worth a game thread? They are playing a high school team.

Tough to judge where we're at when we play a team like Howard because the matchups are so skewed. Savage looks really good. O looks good overall. However, the Defense looks slow still. I'm dumbfounded with that.

I got to agree with you, dude. One good thing about it, though. Rutgers has finally found someone they can defeat...

Tell me about it. If RU did not play Cincy 1st week, RU fans would be talking about a national championship contender right now.

I didn't even know Howard has a football team. What are they? DII or D1AA?

Why don't you cry about UConn and SEC 1-AA opponents.

Howard is FCS - or 1-AA, if you prefer. They're near the base of the totem pole in the FCS rankings too.

Just be happy you finally found someone you can beat. I am sure RU winning the BE thread and run for the BCS bowl title threads will be back soon enough. After all, Mr. car salesman did recruit bunch of 4 and 5 star studs LOL.

Sour grapes day after loosing to North Carolina. Sounds like this Husky needs a time out.

At least they played a legitimate school OOC in an exceptionally close game. More than I can say for our lousy OOC schedule. I'm glad we had Howard today as it gave Savage some more in-game time to continue to learn the offense and gain some confidence and get comfortable out there. The defense continues to be slower than molasses but when you're playing one of the worst 1-AA teams it just doesn't show as easily in the score. Hopefully the FIU game will go just as smoothly and that we can start to right the defense's ship so we can manage to keep our going to bowls streak alive.

We'll get UNC at home next year. However if we schedule a 1-AA in 2011 while playing both Army AND Navy, I'll be pissed. Would be nice to get a Big-10 team in there. Hopefully Pernetti continues to right the ship with our scheduling.

I have little doubt he will, but we seriously need to take the next steps towards the next level where you know we actually contend for a conference title. Anything less than 5-0 against the OOC sched we have is an embarrassment.

Maryland game could be a tough one but the rest of the OOC games are definately winable.

RE: RU - Howard game thread
Maryland will be a tough one. Unless RU's defense shores up no game against an FBS opponent should is going to be a slam dunk. Hopefully by the end of the season we can still complain about the weak OOC schedule instead of complaining about missing a bowl game (or worse).
