Take the bet against the spread on all BEast game in all games where we're the underdog.

Oregon State (0-2) picked over undefeated UC? 04-jawdrop

The bookies must have bought into the line that The BEast is no good. That won't last. They'll lose a lot of money...

Oregon St is actually 2-0 with victories over Portland St and UNLV. I think that's an easy bet. Cincy should take this even though the game is at Oregon St.

I expect WVU to take care of Auburn too.

Oregon is 1-1 with a win against B10 Purdue. B10 sucks royally. I wish the media would pounce on them soon. Instead, we get Kirky H saying "Oh OSU played hard, it will do wonders for their futures blah blah blah".

I think UC, Pitt and WVU win this week as well. Not sure yet about UConn, Syracuse, or U of L. This is a big weekend for the Big East, I think the conference needs wins out of UC, Pitt, and WVU this week so we will have three ranked teams. Wins from UConn, Syracuse, and Louisville will add depth the conference.

The bookies must have bought into the line that The BEast is no good. That won't last. They'll lose a lot of money...

Generally speaking, bookies are looking to get about 50/50 bets on each side. That's why sports books actually don't make that much money for casinos - they're looked at as loss leaders whose purpose is to bring in people to the casinos who'll put some bets down on sports and then stay to play the more profitable slots and table games later on. Most of the time, if there's a lot of action on one side of a bet, Vegas will move the line so that it gets back to 50/50 on each side again.

The only time that Vegas actually has an "opinion" is if there's a lot of action on one side of a bet (i.e. 80% of the people are betting on Team A over Team B against the spread), but then they choose to not move the line to get back to the 50/50 equilibrium. That's basically Vegas saying that "the general public is being really stupid here" and they'll try to make the house some money in that instance. Vegas is correct a WHOLE lot more often than not in that scenario, so that's a tell-tale sign of where to put your money if you can find that type of information. I'd be very interested in a Vegas Bookie Top 25 Poll - those guys are about as unbiased as you can get because their jobs are dependent upon looking at things in an almost purely statistical manner.

Well Frank, with those spreads on BEast games, the bets will be on one side more than the other shortly...

All this means is that most people believe in all the annual SEC/B10 hype that we get everyday. No one in the media ever gives BE any credit. They will lose their money at these in some of the bets above.

What was the line for WVU vs. ECU this past weekend? I know UCONN covered. How did other BE schools do against the spread in the past week?

Frank is right. In fact, a lot of times, betting lines are skewed in one direction in order to drum up some action. That's why some of those lines move around as game time approaches. Still, that adds more fuel to the fire for Cincinnati.

Looks like a below .500 OOC week for the Big east, but Cincinnati looks like the real deal. 14 points better than any one else in the Big East.

Considering West Virginia is more then capable of beating Auburn, Pitt is favored over Navy and Syracuse can beat Northwestern there is no guarantee of a losing week for the Big East.

I'd be surprised if Rutgers didn't win by at least 21.

This is a critical weekend for the Big East, obviously. We need to do well and win a majority of these games. Every one is winnable.

I'd be tempted to take UConn and the 10. Seems WAY too much.

UConn may not win (but, if they hold onto the ball, they could). In any case, I doubt they lose big.

Syracuse will win their game against Northwestern, Cincinnati will win their game against Oregon State. I don't really know enough about the other opponents to makes guesses either way. I would be worried about FIU v Rutgers.
