LOL

So I ask again, where is all this respect that ECU has EARNED CUSA, that they keep talking about.

(is that better?)

I am curious about that myself. You are correct in that USM has finished two CUSA seasons ranked and ECU has zero. As you pointed out, their bowl record is a joke compared to USM's.

Yea, like ECU did against Kentucky. By "heavy lifting" do you mean getting your ass kicked yearly by USM?

Like Jonesing said.........get back to us after you beat UVA, L-ville, and Kansas this season. If you don't beat all 3, you need to shut your mouth and move on to a new topic.

That's the heavy lifting we are talking about.

How about ECU beat USM before you spout off at a USM poster. Like I said, what happened to that heavy lifting against a mediocre Kentucky team? You run your mouth like ECU is some great BCS killer, so why did your team choke and lose to Kentucky. I suggest your supposedly BCS killer football team beat USM before you even think about criiticizing USM. ECU is USM's b#tch. End of story.

Here's the way this is going to work................I will spout off to you as much I want, until you prove something out of conference.

if you don't beat a bad UVA, a bad L-ville, and Kansas on the road, you're going to hear it from me and the other ECU fans on this board the rest of the season.

end of story.
Unless this years version of Appy st is any different, i would assume they have several transfers from d1 programs. I will be the first to say even if they are on the lower level, they are a notch above Samford or the Alcorn squad I watched my eagles play last night.

Yea, if ecu had lost our section would have had a chuckle or 2 and someone would have yelled that Skip wont be going anywhere soon. Truth is I dont want any of us to lose to a lower level program. No matter if it is Southern Miss, or uab, tulane etc. We need to when possible beat the piss outta teams we should beat the piss out of. Yes we as a league need some quality ooc wins also. I will say the first half of the 08 season ECU did what the league needed them to. I hope they get back on track and continue that as well as I hope my Eagles get all 3 of our ooc games.

Let's not get carried away. I've tried to stay out of all this crowing/pissing contest but we are they only team in the league to have a decent win OOC the past few years.

Yes those were very good OOC wins, but it doesn't answer the question.

What ECU fans seemed to be saying, is because of those wins Houston, Tulsa and Rice recieved votes in the final polls of last year. Is that the answer?

No......I haven't been talking about final regular season rankings. That hasn't been my argument.....

It's my argument that C-USA needs to draw the attention that the MWC and Boise are drawing. We need to start to get the accolades, overall, as a conference. Hype, media attention, etc.....

The only way for our conference to start to get that, in my opinion, is by winning big games during the regular season (like BYU and Boise have done to start the year).

With that said.........I would love to see Southern Miss knock off their 3 BCS AQ teams coming up....I would love to see Houston knock off Okie State...........I would love to see Tulsa knock off Oklahoma.....and, I would love to see ECU do their part, and win in Morgantown for the first time ever.

We, as fans of our respective teams, should expect some of these wins this season. There is enough talent on each of our teams to achieve these goals.

Dude this is the last circular post with you. When you guys actually beat a major confernce team with a winning record like Kentucky get back to me. It's been almost 20 years. Also since you give a **** about a CUSA title, try helping us get some victories OOC vs top 25 teams like Boise, VT, WVU and making this conf worth winning & respectable. You guys haven't done jack OOC in years or in CUSA for that matter outside being a spoiler. You like a CUSA title, get back to me when you actually win this new cusa.

You are certainly entitled to be proud of beating us, I feels kind of good to know that we are your marquee program defining victory. Might want to try to do something else besides upseting us though and a trip to New Orleans bowl to play a Sun Belt team. Hard to believe but their are actually bigger things out there.

26-8 and 21-3 Jonesing. That surpasses all of your b.s. spin. Sucks doesn't it Jonesing? 03-lmfao I still don't see an answer why ECU lost to Kentucky if ECU is such a giant BCS killer....How about it Jonesing? What happened?

Injuries and suspensions happened genius. I guess that is too much of a hard concept for you to understand.

Excuses 101. You are the BCS Killer. No excuses work. You got your ass whipped and embarrassed. Way to represent.

Blowing a 13-3 half-time lead, and losing by 6, as you fumble on your final drive, is not "getting your ass whipped and embarassed."

ok chief......ECU ran up 400 yards of offense on Kentucky............that is not getting whipped. it came down to a few plays in the 2nd half.

you need to buy a clue...........and you need to pray that So. Miss beats your 3 OOC BCS AQ teams.

All three recieved votes in the final polls last year. Thats national respect. Its not a Southern Miss fans opinion, or a ECU's fans opinion. Its the national perception of coaches and sportwriters.

I know ECU fans don't want to believe it, but by seasons end no one other than yourselves cared about your big wins to start the season.
Do you really think anyone will care about Colorado State beating Colorado if CSU goes on to lose six games this year?

This really isn't hard to understand...so perhaps a list format would help you and the backer guy out:

1) ECU earned the conference national respect by week 3 of last season......that's fact, not opinion.
2) ECU was ranked as high as number 14 last season....that's national respect, that's media attention, that's hype. that's fact, not opinion.
3) We don't think we are Utah.......but...we certainly strive to be as good and as consistent as them, esp. on big stages.
4) Honestly, we don't think much of Boise, as we beat them up pretty well for most of the Hawaii Bowl game, but, we certainly respect what they've done out of conference, and, on a national stage vs. Oklahoma (and now against Oregon).
5) The win for Colorado State was a very nice win, on the road, hostile environment, vs. their in-state rival/Big 12 team....but........don't compare that win to what we did against VT and WVU last season. apples and oranges.
6) I don't care if anyone cared or didn't care about our early season wins at the end of last season....that's not the point. Plenty of people cared after week 1, week 2, and week 3........the attention, hype, and focus on us and the conference was going on at the time.
7) ECU didn't receive a vote in the very last poll because we lost our bowl game.
8) But....ECU is receiving votes in both the AP and Coach's preseason polls.....so, based on your premise, we're receiving some respect to start the season.
9) Several C-USA teams are receiving pre-season votes, including Southern Miss......which is great......that's a lot better then it has been for this conference. It's time to build on that, and for all of those teams to notch some big wins this season........starting with this coming week, when there are several opportunities for this conference to make some noise on a national stage.
10) I'm done making my argument.......and I'm standing by my initial position. Although....I'm willing to give you a loss to Kansas........I won't get on you if that happens.....but, there should be no reason you shouldn't beat L-ville and UVA.......unless something really freak happens to the majority of your best talent on your team before those games get played.

I will respectfully disagree and say this. Only fans of "team A" care where they start, everyone else cares where they finish. I was not comparing you to CSU. Simply saying there is alot of talk about them now for beating Colorado, if they go on to lose five game all that talk will be forgotton, except by CSU fans.

Preseason polls and end of the year polls are two different animals. End of the year polls reflect how you actually performed, preseason polls are expectations. We finished one game above .500 last year with our wins coming against the easier part of our schedule. We barely beat a Sun Belt team in our bowl. How much "respect" does it take to be in "others recieveing votes" in a preseason poll? Apparently not much.

You are going to "get on me" if we lose to Kansas? LOL. Are you going to kill and eat me if we lose to VA or L'ville? LOL

The whole idea is to improve the perception of C-USA......beating OOC AQ BCS teams help to do that. ECU did that last year..........I'm hoping everyone, including Southern Miss, can do that this year. So yes, if you guys lose to UVA and/or L-ville, you'll see me start a "that's embarassing Southern Miss lost to UVA/L-ville" thread.....just as USMbacker started this thread.

Winning alot of games against conference competition might get some of our teams a few votes.

But to get respect as a conference, we have got to beat teams from the Big-6 leagues. Its that simple.

Non-AQ teams beating other Non-AQ teams and losing to BCS teams only further perpetuates the stereotype that we don't belong.

Where have you seen USM fans here annoint themselves as the BCS killer like you and other ECU fans have? I sure hope to win them, but no USM fan is here mouthing off like you and your buddies about being the allmighty BCS killer. You talk a big story, so don't even think about losing to a BCS team this year. You also might try beating USM before you mouth off to a USM fan. You are our b#tch.

You started this thread.....not me. You started the smack....not me. You talk a big story about knocking us off all time.......golf clap for you.

Now....go out and win some games against BCS AQ teams........

yes.....ECU is striving to be the BCS buster.........why do you have a problem with that?

Maybe you guys should strive for that kind of success........

WVU 35 ECU 20....What happened to the mighty ECU BCS killers? ECU is not supposed to lose these games. That is what we have all been told. First Kentucky and now WVU. So where is the magic Pirates? You brag about these wins, so what happened?
