For the bettors out there...
Anyone see any lines they are interested in this weekend?

The first weekend is usually a pretty crappy weekend to bet, but isn't every week a bad week to bet?

Here's what I'm looking at:

South Carolina @ NC State

NC State is -5. I Jumped on that. They lost 34-0 the year before AT South Carolina but I'm thinking they are a year better. Well, they probably are at the same talent level as last year, it's just South Carolina lost a lot of guys from that amazing D. And I think Russell Wilson is a good QB.

Mizzy @ U of I (Neutral site game.)

U of I is -7 with a payout of (-105). If I was smart I would stay away from this game. But I like U of I a lot in this one. And I hate U of I so that is telling me to bet.

And...in betting with my heart I took NIU +17 at Wisconsin.

I kind of like Oregon +3 1/2 at Boise. I don't know why, but I think Boise has to be bad this year. It's just the law of averages. However I think for as good as Ian Johnson was he was taking carries away from the real star back on the team. So I talked myself out of this one.

What, if anything, is everyone else looking at?

Is this really a bad weekend to bet? I'd think it's actually a fairly good weekend to bet if you know what's going on. A lot of alumni and general public morons will be betting based on last years results or simply who they like.

I like the under in our game.

Penn St. should beat Akron by 40

I also like Minnesota -6.5 over Syracuse.

Hurry up and book CMU to cover vs. AZ. I just saw that their TE Gronkowski (arguably the best TE in the country) is doubtful for tomorrow. Experienced QB, lots of weapons and a stout D...CMU covers if not wins this game. AZ will play 2 QB's tomorrow.

Call me a homer but I'm laying on all the MAC west juggernauts to cover.

bet AGAINST Buffalo. They are traveling 2,000 miles w/o their best player Starks RB. Take UTEP lay the 10. UB could get blown out.

Boise just smoked your system.

Avoid getting sucked in by all the idle chatter on inet.

Buffalo played a heck of game and did the conference proud. UTEP made several mistakes but Buffalo capitalized on them. Good to see they are showing that their addition was the right move for the conference.

I took the UNDER in Michigan/Western Michigan and won. I expected it to be a low scoring affair.. I was wrong but won anyway thanks to Hiller & Co. not showing up.

I lost all my other bets but took NIU at +17 at the last minute to salvage the weekend.

Some interesting lines for week 2:

ND +3 at Michigan

WMU +1 at Indiana

I had a 10-game ML parlay that won. Odds were a little higher than -200.

This week I'm going higher than -100 on the same kind of thing.

Well I learned never to put money on the Oklahoma State Cowboys. Or go against the Houston Cougars...
