agree, but I think right now the opponent is the bigger factor among them. The BE needs one vs bcs.

The Emerald would be best chance at a BCS opponent when you compare Indy,Emerald or Pizza. But all three are behind Music and Meineke

Yes .. as was discussed earlier, we're actually in fine shape with regard to bowl revenue. The problems with the bowl lineup are the intangible things that nevertheless help shape public/media perceptions about our league - stuff like playing in bowls with little history/tradition, playing non-BCS opponents and low-rated opponents from BCS conferences, all of which can be summarized by "prestige". Our lineup says "small time", not "big time".

It would be worth trading off some dollars to boost the prestige of our lineup, IMO.

The BE should go after the Music Bowl next for the #3 with a 1.7 million dollar payout. Travel would be good for most if not all BE schools and you would pick up an SEC opponent.

The Pizza bowl should be the last bowl the BE should negotiate with as it is the lowest paying bowl on the bowl hit list. The location is not the best and the stadium is not in the best of condition. Finally even though the SEC is listed as the oppenent for marketing purposes you won't see them there because they won't have enough bowl eligible teams to fill the slot.

The Emerald Bowl in Frisco offers a great traveling location but only paid 750k to the ACC which was below the 850k the Pac-10 received. It would be nice to play the Pac-10 in Frisco but the travel costs are too high and the bowl is played Dec. 26th to close to Christmas Day for BE fans to travel to with significant numbers.

The Independence bowl offers 1.1 million and is played around 3 days after Christmas Day giving fans more time to enjoy the holiday at home and then to travel to this bowl.

My choice for the bowl line up at this point with what is left would be:
1. BCS
2. Champs
3. Music City
4. Meinkee
5. Independence
6. St. Pete but must honor the 1 mil payout
7. Toronto but move it ahead of the St. Pete if they don't get their payout up to the 1 mil mark.
8. Pizza - contract with them in case ND takes the Champs and it would be a bowl for any 6&6 BE team if needed.
9. Congressional - Contract with them for the years the Academies can't fill this bowl. Use it for the 750k - 1mil payout ahead of lower paying BE bowls when it is available. It will help to leverage higher payouts with the current low paying bowls. Also it is a decent location in the middle of the BE that BE fans from all schools can drive to.

10. NYC bowl- It is not reality yet and the payout would have to be decent enough to draw a B-10 or B-12 oppenet. That will be hard if it is in Yankee stadium as that stadium will only hold 40k for FB and the parking around their is piss poor for people driving in from the Tri State area to watch the game. Also no tailgating areas to enjoy the pregame festivities. This bowl will need a real nice SUGAR DADDY to pony up the cash to draw decent conferences and teams to play BE teams.

The Medowlands offers a better atmosphere but the bowl woould have to be played during the week if it is a post Christmas Bowl. The Giants and Jets play there and are not giving up a NYE weekend game for anyone. They pack the house that day - I have been there.

This is a futuristic bowl anyway and only in the planning stages so it will not come into play until the next series of bowl negotioations anyway.

Just out of curiosity but does anyone know how many tickets the Tire Bowl requires? I thought I read something at some point that it was around 12.5k?
