Collegiate Licensing Company Names Top Selling Universities
Here's some interesting news. This is one of the true tests for who has the most fans...

Collegiate Licensing Company Names Top Selling Universities and Manufacturers

The BEast on the list...
(18.) West Virginia University
(32.) University of Louisville
(40.) Syracuse University
(42.) University of Pittsburgh
(47.) The State University of New Jersey (Rutgers, if you want to be crude)
(49.) University of Cincinnati
(50.) University of Connecticut
(53.) University of South Florida

Expansion candidates on the list...
(8.) The Pennsylvania State University
(9.) University of Notre Dame
(26.) University of Miami
(51.) Boston College
(54.) East Carolina University
(55.) The University of Memphis
(57.) Georgetown University
(61.) University of Central Florida
(70.) Villanova University
(72.) University of Delaware

If you've got another candidate, YOU dig the facts out. I'm done...

True fans buy their university's gear, so they'll have stuff to wear to games, and to let everbody know who they root for. Of course, the SEC dominated the top of this list, which listed the top 75 selling universities...

Oddly enough, Virginia Tech didn't make the cut...

NOTE: Remember, not every institution uses CLC...hence some BIG NAME programs are no where to be found on a "CLC" list.

Without combing the list thoroughly...believe it would exclude schools like Ohio State, Southern Cal, Penn St, etc....that have deals with other companies.

VT doesn't have the CLC represent them in athletic licensing (see the "Clients" link on that page), which is why they aren't listed (this list only consists of CLC clients). Ohio State doesn't use the CLC, so that's why they aren't listed all - we can be fairly certain that OSU would've sold more merchandise than Texas State - San Marcos.

It is logical to assume that ECU, Memphis and UCF would rank higher if we could trade the "mid-major" label for "BCS".

Why?

UC has actually gone backwards on the list since the late '90s.

I'd say that it is safe to say without Calipari that Memphis will move backwards in future years if the new coach doesn't keep them at the top of the national scene.

We don't NEED the BCS label to sell shirts. You just need a good product. Sure, it would be easier to recruit more highly touted players if we didn't have the Non-AQ stigma, but it's not impossible to field a solid squad without the BCS label.

This is not representative of how many fans you got. True test of how many fans you got is how much revenue you generate as an university in sports.

Selling more jerseys just means a team got bunch of fans who lack fashion sense who don't mind deck out in team colors for their entire family. Highly educated professionals with some fashion sense usually don't do that LOL.

yup....were were a LOT higher when huggs was here and our bball team was top 10.....I'm actually surprised with how high our ranking is now....the football team and BK have picked up a little of the slack.

UC lost it's rogue program status when they fired Huggins. However, I think Cronin is bringing it back. Funny thing is UC was never dirty, they just felt dirty which is why people liked them.
