Alumni Assoc Lunch - Shooters Report
My partner is on the Alumni Association board and they had their meeting and lunch today at the Legends Room in Stephens Arena. Coach Shields spoke and when asked what was the biggest weakness of the team last year replied:"Outside shooting." He said that we had recruited at least two shooters and specifically mentioned Cicic and Garcia-Mendoza.

Now that we have the shooters, it'll be interesting to see what we do to get them open.

Yeah, and actual screen now and then would be refreshing!

Is screening and getting guys open for perimeter shots actually a part of grinder ball?

It'll be interesting to see our offense this season.

No. But by golly we've got the shooters. Who needs screens when you've got shooters?

I have been corrected by a friend on my lack of screens post above. It has been pointed out that numerous screens were set in the first 10 minutes of the South Alabama game in the tournament last year, but the shots didn't fall. I do remember some of those screens, so I will alter my observation on screens to read:

Wouldn't it be refreshing to see more screens set that we actually could do something with-ie- score!

The reports on Cicic said he had almost unlimited range. Here's hoping.
