Troy Baseball field to be expanded.
Has anyone heard this. I received a tip from the architect that will be doing it that plans are being drawn for an expansion.

I will post details as I get them.

I'd rather the money toward expansion be used for the new arena! But Riddle-Pace field does need some expansion now since the crowds are usually large. Especially when a good team comes to town or if Alabama, Auburn, or South Alabama visit.

the new baseball field looks great!! i went to several games last spring and it looks top-notch! but it does need more expansions as far as setting for larger games like u said against Auburn and such.

as far as the arena i've seen worse lol. its not nasty, just extremely outdated and small....... we just need to demo it... i heard that it's Chancellor Hawkin's last thing he does before he goes for Governor???

RE: Troy Baseball field to be expanded.
well here is a little bit of an article about the $1 million donation back last March:

Troy University Trustee Milton McGregor presented a $1 million check to Chancellor Jack Hawkins, Jr., Wednesday night as the initial gift toward a new multipurpose arena to be built on the Troy Campus.

The University’s 2005 strategic plan calls for the University to replace Trojan Arena, which was built in 1962. No timetable for completion has been developed, and a final price tag for the project has not been determined.

RE: Troy Baseball field to be expanded.
I found this from an article in the Troy Messenger on December 7, 2008

The construction of a new Multi-Purpose Sports Arena on Troy’s campus is still a work in progress, but one that university officials want to progress quickly.

“We’re (discussing) sites, we will start moving forward with requests for proposals, and we’re trying to get interviews with architects,” said Athletic Director Steve Dennis.

Dennis said officials still haven’t determined an exact location for the new arena, but they are looking at some options, including the practice field by the stadium or on the golf course.

The arena would encompass a new basketball court, volleyball court and convocation center, as well as coaches’ offices and classrooms.

Money is the only obstacle, Dennis said. With $1.5 million raised, Dennis said the department needs another $8.5 million.

There is no time-line set for the project yet.

Associate Vice Chancellor for Development Jean Laliberte said the $10 million is all the university will need to raise for the project, and other funds may be allotted from other financial sources.

RE: Troy Baseball field to be expanded.
As far as the baseball stadium yea there are plans drawn up. I am friends with the head coach here at Troy and i have seen the expanded plans for the addition to the baseball stadium. The back wall where the scoreboard actually hasnt even been completed yet from the first renovation. If you want to know about the wall, it was actually suppose to been painted with past baseball players and past winninge images on it. Which, in my opinion, would have been really cool. The plans have been around for the last couple of years and he is just raising the money for it. From what I saw and I was told by him, that the only other thing that is going to be done is more seating down the visiting dugout side of the stadium. Now that could have changed but that is the last word that he told me.
