I think global warming has already died and has been replaced with climate change. This way no matter what happens the liberals can say "Aha, I told you so!"

In my eyes, no they dont mean anything unless placed into some larger context.

And by the way Reb, if you dont want to send your kids to my alma mater, then I think thats just fine with them. The waiting list is long enough as it is.

RE: Global warming in Chicago
So let us see a listing of thousands of years of temperatures, niu. I don't think you can claim the earth is warming significantly over a decade or two, personally. We also all know that at some point the Earth had oceans covering much more of the continents (including my home state, Ohio).

I'm all about keeping our environment clean. I'm not about worrying about carbon dioxide emissions when there is no conslusive data saying it causes global warming. If anything, it should help our forests thrive.

So you're suggesting that he's artificially keeping Chicago temperatures cold?

First, because none of you understand that not every place on Earth gets warmer but the overall temperature rises. I know it is a difficult concept for you righties.

Second, no. I just wanted to throw a "fun fact" in there for those who don't live in Chicago or know about that.

Confirms what I've been observing casually. The entire continent has been 5-10 degrees below average for this spring.

Weather and Climate are not the same things.

You really think moving the goal posts into the parking lot is going to get anyone to your side?
Am I misreading your post but are you saying that climate and weather are the same thing?

First, we understand what your side is trying to sell. We just aren't buying without proof. And you and your friends are far from offering any. The earth has probably been cooling the past decade, thus the dishonest change in terminology.

Second, no one cares.

Please just stay out of this issue. If you can't even understand the difference between weather and climate, you should really not be commeneting on the subject. Oh, and there is no way to explain to you in a pre-grade school level why the new difference. It actually involves THINKING and CPMPREHENSION-both of which you have problems with.

Weather and Climate are not the same things.

Your point?

Because what I keep hearing is that w/ Global Warming we're going to have droughts, intense hurricanes and hotter temperatures. Sure sounds like weather to me.

Sorry, but you're wrong. Weather encompasses essentially whats happening "today" outside your door (or this season, what have you). Climate is weather as observed over very long periods of time, on a global scale.

Climate is not on a global scale, otherwise you wouldn't have climate regions.

Quote:Just because Chicago is having a cool spring in 2009 dosent mean squat when youre talking about climate

Of course it means something, it means every bit as much as "1998 was the hottest year in recorded history."

If you really want to talk about trends, we can do that. If you really mean "over long periods of time" then you're out of luck, b/c the GW opressors don't have those data. They've made their claims w/o such benefit, so they can be refuted in the same way.

Quote:..it is what it is.

Wow, and you're going to discuss grade school definitions? Let's see, "We'll use weather when it supports our case, but we'll ignore it when it doesn't. Baa baa baa."

03-lmfao I have less knowledge than over half the rightwingers on this board? Sorry, but I am not the one who has no clue what the difference between weather and climate is. Seriously, if that is a difficult concept to understand, you guys should seriously give up on this debate.

Who doesn't know what climate and weather are? Once again, a couple of you are going off to your own little safe places and playing with yourselves.

Rebel doesn't know the difference. Oh, that reminds me. I have to go watch some AQ videos so I can get off.

I don't see any confusion on Rebels part. Come back to us Barbara Lewis Hare Krishna Beauregard.

Maybe but Ole Miss appears to be a prep for grade school when you can get through and not know the difference between weather and climate.

I'm the one who started the conversation, so I must be the one who doesn't know the difference between weather and climate. Of course neither do the supporters of GW, but that doesn't seem to bother you.

Nevertheless, pedantic discussions do nothing to get at the real issue. The real issue is that people want to make policy based on speculation. If they want to live by some new moral code, where they worship Gaia, they're free to do so, but stop imposing those beliefs on me.

BTW, hasn't that been the claim of the progressives for decades now?
