IT's too quiet
It's too quiet on this board. Let's get some conversation started!

How about this? Will Kennesaw pull out of the cellar in basketball next season? And if so, where do you see them placing in the standings?

Its too early to tell where Kennesaw will end up but it will not be in the cellar again! They will be much better next year.

RE: IT's too quiet
The obvious key to any season is the conference schedule. However, I will pose the argument that the key to our success next season will hinge in large part with our non-conference schedule. I make this argument simply because of this, everyone and their mother thinks we're going to be drastically better, which I have no doubt in. However, the starting lineup could involve anywhere from 2-3 freshman/transfer players (Ladaris, Markeith, Heramb). The non-conference schedule will be critical for the Owls to establish a solid starting five and bench rotation leading into A-Sun play. Also we will have a young team again this year, last year we saw just how much losing can affect young players, so I will also argue that a decent start to the season is critical, especially with potentially two starters having not played a minute over prep ball (Markeith and Ladaris). It is May, and the season is still 5 months away, but for what its worth, that's my take on the team and the importance of the early part of the season.

One more thing, speaking of non-conference, does anyone have any inside information on who the Owls will be playing this season?

Wish I did... hopefully the holiday schedule will be clear. That always bugs me to death. New years, christmas, valentines... If they could get anyone to play us Christmas morning, I think they would have done it.

Notre Dame in South Bend, at St. Louis, Fordham, at Maine to be sure.

wow Notre Dame, that's pretty cool. The Maine game makes sense as well because they were a part of the 100 Club Classic last season.

There is also another big name team that we will be playing, but I won't let that cat out of the bag just yet....

should be announced in the near future.

That should just about be our first ever sellout, you'd reckon.

RE: IT's too quiet
they have a poll up on ksuowls.com right now asking fans what it is they'd like to see more of on the site. the options are video interviews/highlights, more pictures, live audio, more feature stories. i personally voted for more video interviews and highlights, however it would be awesome if we could get online audio coverage of games and such. it is impossible to ever pick up AM 1230/1340 to hear the road games for the basketball team. i am a firm believer in a complete overhaul though, i feel we need more of all of the options. what about everyone else? what would you change to ksuowls.com?

RE: IT's too quiet
What the athletic department doesn't get, is that the more games that are covered through different media outlets, the more interest will be created in the program and the more seats they will fill. They want to keep it exclusive so people come to the home games, but apparently that hasn't worked so well. Pay for play on the internet works, but it's the world of free now.

Win and you're in... the CC fills up in no time, brings in top talent, schedule top tier one and ones and then you have to worry about growing too big.

Market the players to the students like larger programs do. It runs a risk that they haven't been willing to take. Do damage control and just keep the big picture in tact.

I met a professor with professional sports experience who is trying to help. We'll see if the ath dept is receptive to his ideas.

Well, I am pretty sure that a December matchup was more than talk, about 95% sure (but things can change).

Stay tuned.

RE: IT's too quiet
If any ACC/SEC school came to the CC it would def sell out. GFWO, that would be awesome if they do. I wouldnt even mind driving down to their place. I will ask a few of the people I know if they have heard anything about it. Nick thats great that a professor with pro sports experience is getting into the mix. We need somebody to consult. I went to the webpage and selected more video/highlights and that made me think of something. We NEED to come up with some way to raise money to purchase a better scoreboard that includes a large screen so they can run replays. Those cheep score boards drive me insane lol

RE: IT's too quiet
Amen kr haha. it irks me everytime i am reminded of the fact of the scoreboards. it would be great to get one that we could actually see points and fouls for each player. we are way behind the competition in that respect, even within our own conference.
