Even if it is DOA, at least they are making an effort towards a playoff. There are ulterior motives, like staying with the status quo and giving the MWC an autobid.

Exactly. This is more about the MWC putting pressure on the BCS to make them the 7th BCS conference then it is them wanting to "even the playing field" for everyone.
