UNM Lobos to cut Athletics by 10 percent
"ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — New Mexico's athletics department is imposing a 10 percent budget cut on each of its teams..."

This is the first news I've seen where a D1-a school is actually cutting its athletic budget.

A 10 percent cut is pretty deep.

A 10 percent cut is pretty deep.

I'm sure this is a forthcoming reality for most teams as donations and ticket sales both drop.

Yeah, with so many sports fans already out of work or facing layoff, upside down in their home mortgages, suffered huge losses in their retirement plans, etc., I expect season ticket sales and donations to suffer. We will know soon enough as it is time to re-up on season tickets and donations.

Yep. I'm sure a lotta schools will feel the pinch in the coming months. Too bad that schools aren't in the auto business in Detroit. Uncle Sugar would definitely flood us with money then.

Talk about a black hole.
