If the LeBron connection rumor is true I think I like Flynn. If he has a chance to go at 8 that's a whoe lot better than going 20 in terms of guaranteed salary. I no longer have the numbers but let's say pick 20 gets $700,000 a year for two years then pick eight gets about maybe $2 million a year for two years than its better to sit out the draft if you think you can improve your position by another year in college.
If Flynn passes that up then he's coming back to not only benefit Syracuse but to benefit HArris and Devendorf. They can all raise their stock with another year at Syracuse. Harris and Devendorf really don't have any stock at all but a year can make a difference.
I suppose it is possible. The current point guard for the Knicks Chris Duhon has a two year contract for $12 million or $6million a season. It expires at the end of the 2010 season. He's ok but I'm would not pay him $6 million in this economy. If I were the knicks I would be looking for someone either cheaper and about the same as Duhon or better than Duhon and a bit more expensive. You are correct about the NBA salary cap. I have posted the chart for the NBA rookie cap for the 2008-2009 season. The column headings are below. The higher up you are drafted the more salary you make. See below:
