UCF recruiting big in Chicago...
UCF fans: Congrats on recruiting successes in Chicago. It is the lead of my CBS MaxPreps.com story this week. Please pass on to other UCF fan boards.

Malcolm Griffin, a quick shooting guard from Chicago Hyde Park, may be the next to commit to UCF.

Great write-up, thanks! It's good to see us recruiting well in the Chicago area. Sounds like we're getting some pretty solid players from there.

On a side note, we're not the "Golden Knights" anymore . . . just "Knights" now. Officially speaking, we dropped the "Golden" part of our nickname in 2007.

Oops. Got it. Thanks.

How come they dropped the Golden part of Knights?

It was part of the marketing department's plan when the new football stadium and the new basketball arena opened. Our uniforms and athletic logos got a bit of a makeover to go along with the other changes.

This is actually the second time we've been just the "Knights." The word "Golden" wasn't added until the early 1990s by former athletic director Steve Sloan.

Thanks for the great coverage . . . I'll be sure to pass your article along!
