Rove saw it for what it ultimately was---a witch hunt. How do we know it was a witch hunt? Because when Novack told the special prosecutor that it was Armitage who outed Plame, the media ignored it, and the special prosecutor didn't even go after Armitage. The truth didn't fit the matrix, hence instant non-story.

When congress appointed the special prosecutor it was about connecting the dots to nab someone in the administration. When that didn't work, the whole thing dried up and went away. It was always about "politics" and never about "actual justice."

Had you read a little you would have known that Dick Armitage was revealed as the source, and I wouldn't have had to set you straight. It was pretty common knowledge.

If your source of information is reading the captions under the pictures in USA Today, I can see where you'd think Rove was the culprit.
