No disgrace in losing to the Big 12 champions on a hot shooting night.

Gray, and all the Memphis Nation, congrats on another great year 04-bow

It's obvious you missed Dorsey's nastiness much more than you missed the scoring from CDR/Rose (I mean, Evans scored enough for both of those guys last night). Mizzou's a very good team that deserves credit. They'll be a tough out for UConn, but, as SF says, I look for the Huskies to advance.

Cal will keep it going as long as he's there. Comments rubbing it in on a team winning over 30 games are just ignorant.

Memphis had a tremendous year and nothing to be ashamed of. They'll be great next year as well. However, GA is constantly insulting certain other Big East member institutions, one of whom that advanced further than his team has. I think there is some poetic justice in that.

Nice little run there Memphis, get back to us when you actually win a title. Until then you're still a notch below about half the teams in the Big East.

Yes, Michael, good point. I agree. Although I've had my issues with the likes of DePaul and SHU, and their poor budgets, I have no room to ***** about them, as they've been regularly beating UC over the past 2-3 seasons.

Nova, G'Town, Marquette, ND: no complaints at all with their b-ball quality.

GA,
I agree Memphis and it's fans should be proud. I do believe CUSA does your program a dis-service by not working harder to build programs to challenge your Tigers during the regular season.

I would venture to guess that if Memphis had been in the Big East the last four seasons you might not have 30 wins at the end of each season but you could well have a couple of national championship banners hanging in the FedEx Forum.

I realize that's just my opinion but I still believe competition brings out the best in young people.

They appear to be doing just fine without being "battle tested" in a top tier league like the Big East and they are hauling in monster recruiting classes without any help from a conference logo.

This isn't a Louisville vs. Memphis thing. It is a matter of maximizing ones full potential with the help of those you compete with. If you think just going to 4 straight Sweet 16's, a couple of elite eights and a national runner-up finish is "just fine" you will never understand my point.

RE: memphis loses to the first real team they played
At the start of the year, most Memphis fans felt the year would be a real success if we could make the Sweet 16. We did, and we were right. Over the course of the year we began to think maybe this team could do more, and they might have with a hot shooter or a different draw. But our initial assessment was on the money. This team did what it should have done, but did it with a bit more style than expected.

All in all, there is NO WAY you could ask for more from Memphis than they have delivered over the last few years. It has been phenomenal in all respects.

Did we beat any "real" teams this year? Let's see how Gonzaga does against North Carolina before we lay that question to rest. We beat Gonzaga handily. Let's see how North Carolina does with them.

C-USA doesn't hurt Memphis come March just like the Big West never hurt UNLV back in their day. Anybody who thinks so doesn't really know what they are talking about.

Memphis simply got beat by a really good Mizzou team that played better than Memphis. That's all. Has nothing to do with conferenences.

Another ******* comment. The title is just a matter of time. What was it that old clown Smellyburger said about a collision course?

While I do not agree with the title of this thread, I do think that the ease with which Memphis has ran thru CUSA have hurt their player's prepare for the NCAA. Last year they had a great team and thus they overcame that, this years team was not great but it was a good team. I think having to battle in conference games force the top teams to get better in things like FT shooting and handling that pressure of close games. When you can win day in and day out even when you shot poorly in FG and/or FT doesnt show mny players how important it is to improve and to come ready to play ALL the time.

After watching Gonzaga get killed, you may be right. Maybe we didn't play anybody this year.

Our OOC and Conference schedules were IMHO both much weaker this year. Next year's schedule should improve.

The truth is I don't believe OU has faced a team as tough and athletic as The Orange. I would give the edge out front with Flynn and Devendorf to Syracuse. Inside OU may have the edge with Griffin but it isn't like The Orange have not faced a mobile big man all season. Thabeet and Harangody are great players.

As with the three Big East Sweet 16 games last night, they will be close the first half but as the game wears on, Big East toughness will take over. Syracuse by 6.

well, so much for that pick 03-lmfao

Got what he deserved today. They will have to wait another year to repeat 1986.
