Billy G out at Ky
WHAS 11 here in the ville interrupted Grey's Anatomy to report that Billy G will indeed be fired at UK.

Not to nitpick, but WHAS also broke that Donovan was going to UK (the first time). Obviously, that did not happen. Not a reliable source.

RE: Billy G out at Ky
They are not wrong this time. He's gone. There are way too many "sources" out there saying this. A sportswriter on CBS Sportsline in an article today said that he had "Multiple Sources" and when he said "Multiple" he said "70".

RE: Billy G out at Ky
It may be true but as I mentioned before, a lot of sources were saying Billy D to UK was a done deal last time (WHAS, WLEX, etc). As I said, this may have feet and it may not. We'll find out Friday.

They call Jamie Dixon. Somebody calls Jamie every year, and every year he gets a raise from Pitt and says no thank you. If I'm the KY AD, Sean Miller is on my short list of candidates. Or maybe Calipari, all are younger established coaches.

Btw, WHAS has retracted their story saying that nothing has been decided yet on Billy G and UK. This has been a media disaster thus far and is making everyone involved look terrible.

I visited the UK site and Jay Wright's name was being thrown around. That would be interesting. Jay has done a great job at Nova.

I think Kentucky will pay somebody a boat load of money with a long contract or they won't get anyone good.

LOL! Catpause is STILL blaming Tubby Smith for their current woes. The guy hasn't been there in 3 years! And, in the interim, took a team with a worse record, in a better conference, to the NCAA Tournament while Kentucky had regressed under ol' Billy G.

Louisville has Pitino, the new arena, and a possible Final Four run. UK fans have an NIT bid.

You can guess they aren't pleased.

No doubt, DFW, it's been melt down mode w/ the Blews for much of the season. Whatever the validity of the reports, I would think Clyde's done. The Ukayers simply cannot tolerate this. They've essentially hired the 2nd coming of Dubya. I hope he stays around for a couple of more years, but seriously doubt it.

And, yeah, 'claw, Ky fans will never stop blaming Tubby, or awarding Pitino their '98 NC, even though Tubby was the coach...

I wonder how come Tubby did so poorly at Kentucky, when he's won everywhere else he's been. It must be something in the water in Lexington these days...

RE: Billy G out at Ky
Here's a thought:

A couple of these articles from ESPN.com have mentioned that BCG still has not signed his contract with Kentucky. Two years into a seven year deal and the contract still isn't supposedly signed.

So, if that is true, is there a buyout to be paid? If he was that arrogant to never sign the deal, thinking back to Mike Price's Alabama debacle, does UK owe him a dime if they remove him as coach?

RE: Billy G out at Ky
Billy G does not have an official public contract but signed a "memorandum of understanding" instead. Memorandums can be legally bindings (i.e. the legal equivalent of a contract) but the legal complexities of what makes them binding or not is beyond my expertise. You'd have to ask a lawyer his opinion. Funny thing is this could all end up in court.

Here is the memorandum of understanding according to John Clay's blog (writer out of Lexington).
