He said Kentucky would go up to 4 million, and that would be there limit.

That being said. I don't see Cal going there. But I think Donovan would definitely listen.

What does Cal make anyway ?

I hear the folks in Lexington will try to hire John Wooden...he's a proven winner, has 10 National titles, and clearly undestands the Wildcats' need to bring a tradition-rich coach. 03-lmfao

Cal didn't go to KY two years ago, but now I think he will go. The KY program is in way better shape than two years ago and Cal has failed to sign any top recruits for Memphis. Cal is as good as gone.

Shouldn't Kentucky fire Gillispie before they publicly search for a new coach? The team is still playing in the NIT. That should turn away many of the top coaches from taking the job. Who would want to coach in an atmosphere like that!

And shame on Forde for reporting it - even if his sources are true.

EGO!!!!!!!!!!! If one of the coach's egos wants to be known as a coach at an elite program he will be swayed. I get the feeling Cal's ego is past that point of having to be at an elite school.

It's true. Kentucky will hire John Wooden. If Wooden doesn't get the team playing well by November then he's gone.

Well known talking head who worked 17 years in Louisville reporting information that could in some way harm UK. Yeah, that would never happen

The info harms Loserville more than it harms Kensucky.

Billy Donovan can't go anywhere for 3 or 4 more years. After the Orlando Magic debacle, he got locked into a 5 year deal with the Gators.

(This info comes from my guy who runs the Gators broadcast).

(03-24-2009 06:36 PM)MEM-Fist Wrote:  Interesting . . . I'd love to hear their pitch to Donovan. It would be tough coaxing him out of Florida. He's got a pretty good class comnig next year, led by Kenny Boynton. If he can somehow convince Calathes to stick aroud, they'll have a pretty talented squad.

The other name it seems I've been hearing more of in conjunction with a possible UK opening is Travis Ford of OK State. I heard a recent discussion that the "establishment" ay UK would like to get a member of the Wildcat family tree, someonw who understands how to handle the boosters, fans, etc. and all the associated pressures. Ford id a good coach. He also has a strong recruiting class coming to Stillwater, but this is the sort of job that would make him jump.

Calathes isnt going anywhere. Theres not a high demand for short white guards in the NBA. Also, the University of Florida is one of the wealthiest public universities in the country and would have no trouble throwing as much money at Donovan as he wanted.

His report had nothing to do with Pitino or Loserville ( in as much as it was reported here ). If that ended being the case, yeah, it would be quite the blow to the Cards. I only meant that I wouldn't ever be surprised by someone who spent that much time in Louisville having no problem reporting information that could have a negative impact on UK. Those folks can't stand each other.
