RE: 2010 Football Recruiting Thread
Indiana has been and likely will continue to be the cellar dweller in the Big 10 but they are still in a BCS conference. They lost their state's top ranked RB(per Scout) to an instate MAC program. Very good get for BSU.

RE: 2010 Football Recruiting Thread
Iowa had by far the best bowl appearance by a Big 10 team last year. With most of their starters returning has positive momentum and should have a strong recruiting year.

We have a good chance of signing 2 mayb-e-e-e- 3 off that list.

That's as good or better than the other MAC programs do in their states. I doubt that the 6 Ohio MAC programs collectively sign 12-18 of the top instate players. The 3 MI schools do a great job instate. NY state doesn't have that much talent so BUffalo has to go outside to be a winner, Temple is doing much better in PA than they used to.

Besides working on the instate talent, the staff should be working the surrounding states and only go to LA, TX & FL when they have a specific need. MO is loaded this year especially on the D side of the ball, it would be a shame if the Huskies didn't get some from the show me state. St Louis U HS produces D1 talent every year and St Louis U doesn't have football.

Well we just got one, which is super nice for Kill. I'd love to see a group of 4 or 5 from that list.

Looks like we need to start up the 2010 Verbal Thread. A nice get for coach Kill and his staff to start things off. I agree I would like to see 4 or 5 off of this list. I think one of the RB's is definitely within reach and OL has to be a recruiting priority so would like to see 1 or 2 of them as well.

Any word on how the camps went this past weekend? Any names of note that showed up?

... I agree on the RB..... and 100% agree on the OLINE being a priority. We are short OL, IMO we must sign -2- JCs and 4 HS OL. Would really like to see the kid from Tinley (Lenkiewicz) sign w/ us .

... That LB (Bolingbrook ILB Mike Hellams) he is a FB player. On the U Tube great tackling and movement .... appears to be on the short side but can move and tackle......

RE: 2010 Football Recruiting Thread
We'll only have about 20 schollys to give for 2010 so I doubt we can go 6 in one position. I could definitely see them offering 4 O-linemen since numbers were down in three out of the last four recruiting classes:

2006
Panan Tense
Jason Onyebuagu - moved up a class as he played as a freshman
Mike Krause - moved to defensive line

2007

Adam Kiel
Keith Otis
Trevor Olson
Joe Pawlak
Scott Wedige

2008
Logan Pegram
Jerry Rigo

2009[u]
Jared Volk
Matt Krempel

Good thing they found five
in the 2007 class, and it looks like they all can play.

He reminds me of Josh Allen with a bit more speed and a he's a little bit taller than Josh.

RE: 2010 Football Recruiting Thread
I believe we only have 13 - 14 OL on scholly right now. We will lose -4- this year Jason O, Eddie A, Tony H. and SKAT. We will be left with -9- scholly OL ( don't believe Rigo has earned one as of yet - could be wrong) after this year. 13-14 OLINE on ride is LIGHT and dangerous if you want a healty QB & RB. That 07' class was good and we were fortunate to get Pawlak as a walk on. We should have 15 OLine on scholly that is why am looking for -6-, plus we will need experienced players that is why I am anticipating -2- JCs.

13 - 14 is about 3 deep at every spot, even a bit deeper cause guys can play a few spots.

And that's just scholarship guys, so I'm not too worried about the numbers. We'd have to lose 8 guys to be down to our last 5 starters with non scholarship backups (and some of the walks ons are pretty good.)

Most teams including the beloved after your 1st 7-8 BIG dropoff so the concern is NOT ending up w/ -5- and walk-ons, Harnish & Co will be dead before we get to that point. The reason you need 15 (5/24 * 85= 17) is so that your program is ALWAYS in a position of playing older experienced lineman. In addition guys get hurt and/or transfer. Few schools run as low as we are running right now.

....end of subject..... 03-wink

Mike Kritikos might be on scholarship based on his play last year, which would make it 18. You'll probably have a few underclassmen leave so that gets it up to around 20.

... WOW.... great job DAWG..... I counted 18 schollies on sr's.... Combined with losing -4- (2 from incoming class & 2 already in program) we should have 22 to offer. I am stunned looking at the depth chart at our CB's... We need corners.... We will need Lbs in the 2010 class. We may see a few more JCs at CB,LB and OL.

I wouldn't be surprised to see another corner or two show up on this fall's roster. Markus Cocroft and Javarious Riley are two names that were thrown around earlier this year.

Florida quarterback Ryan Singer:

http://recruiting.scout.com/a.z?s=73&p=8...id=4298734

He certainly looks the part in this ESPN workout video, goofy haircut notwithstanding:

http://insider.espn.go.com/ncf/recruitin...Id%3d84869

In trolling the web for info on Singer it looks like Florida high school teams play a spring game! I've never heard of such a thing at the high school level. Do they play spring games anywhere besides Florida?

I don't know if other states/what other states specifically have spring games but there are a good number of them that are essentially year-round with practices, scrimmages, etc. It's one of the reasons you'll occasionally see sighted for the talent gap between the North and the South/West; not only does the weather give them the opportunity to play year round, but the high school associations actually allow them to do it, whereas many in the North (Illinois included) do not.
