RE: 2010 Football Recruiting Thread
State of Indiana CB Jeff Garrett of Ben Davis HS becomes the second recruit to verbal to the Huskies.
Meanwhile, Kenosha (WI) Kenosha Tremper Offensive Center Zac Epping picks Minnesota over the Huskies, Central Michigan and Northern Michigan.
Epping is the second state of Wisconsin Offensive Linemen prospect to pick the Gophers over the Huskies ( Matt Eggen was the first) and the second prospect today with a Huskie offer to choose to play college ball elsewhere (earlier O'Fallon TE prospect De'Ron Flood committed to Purdue).

Ben Davis is a big time school in Indy. Have we gotten any other kids from there?

Ben Davis is indeed a terrific place to find talent; it and Warren Central are probably the two most consistently talented teams (from a projection-to-college standpoint) in Indiana.

RE: 2010 Football Recruiting Thread
Brother Rice Offensive Guard Andy Gallik has given his verbal commitment to the University of Illinois. Gallik becomes the 3rd Offensive Linemen with a Huskie offer to commit elsewhere in a span of 3 days.
As of now, the Huskies have 2 other offers to Offensive Linemen prospects. Laken Tomlinson of Lane Tech is one of them, but I highly doubt he will come close to committing to playing college ball in DeKalb as he is entertaining offers from Ohio State, Tennessee and Illinois just to name a few.
Mark Lenkiewicz of Andrew is the other prospect with an offer, and it seems the Huskies may have a better shot at signing him, although Lenkiewicz has two BCS offers (Colorado State and Minnesota) as well as pretty much every school in the MAC.
I read in some posts here and got the message that some of you feel Offensive Line should be one of the top priorities in recruitment this year. Even though it is still very early in the recruiting process, I'm wondering how every one is feeling about the Huskies success (or lack thereof) in the OLine recruiting trail so far.

I think The Machine and his crew are doing just great with recruiting. Up until just a year or two ago we never had publicly known commits before August and we already have two in June. Plus they have a three star guy in the fold already and those have been rare in the past. The O-line recruits we've lost so far have gone to BCS schools and that happens every year at this time. No big deal, on to the next candidates.

Is Hester any relation to Devin Hester of the Bears? Maybe being a cousin or some relationship might get him to come north.

The Lenk as he is known may be hesitant to go to Minn as they have already recruited 2 lineman. Both of which we had our eye on as well. He would have more opportunity to play here.
We do need to pick up some lineman though, I was dissappointed that the kid from Kenosha didn't come here, it would have been nice to land a 3 star linemen. But we move on.

Man you ain't kidding. There has been quite a rush on O-Line guys lately. Marlandez Harris is another guy we were in on. He just verballed to Indiana, ouch.
Time to offer some O-Line guys indeed. One guy I like is Sam Cunningham out of Wisconsin.

RE: 2010 Football Recruiting Thread
Kill has been slow in recruiting OLINE since he started, 37 signed -4- OLineman. The math does NOT add up. We are short numbers on the Oline right now. We s/b signing -6- OL this year with -2- being JCs. We have rarely successfully recruited a 3* or more OLINEMAN, so that does not concern me right now, but I want to see some talent in the OLINE come Feb.

Can someone please get rid of the 2009 verbal thread and start up the 2010 verbal thread in the pin section?

I know we are in on at least 2 OL out of the state of Florida.
Maybe Kill is going to another market for his beef?

Certainly the top 2 in metro Indianapolis, NIU signed Onyebuagu out of Warren Central. The Fort Wayne high schools produce consistent talent, (Bishop Dwenger, Bishop Luers,R Nelson Snider) NIU has done well there also.

FWIW, Andrew OT Mark Lenkiewicz committed to Minnesota on his visit up there. Good player who will have to put on a bit of weight before he's ready to play.

That's the 3rd Huskie OLine prospect to commit to the Gophers in less than one week.
The only other Huskie offer to an Olinemen as of now is to Lane Tech's Laken Tomlinson. Tomlinson also has been offered by Ohio State, Illinois, Northwestern and Michigan State just to name a few.

... THAT Rivals/Scout are reporting. I would be stunned if we did NOT have other offers out there right now. Last year they came close to getting a Cali JC OT and I would bet they have offered some JC OLine already.

Oline has to be one of the top priorities. It usually takes a couple of years for the lineman to develop. Size and strength mean a lot. Look at Panan Tense. He has lost weight since coming here. He is stronger and Leaner. The are just big in HS but need to get stonger.

I don't know if you guys remember last year when I said that there were a bunch of guys out of Central Florida that we were recruiting. Well, we've offered one of them - a D-line prospect from Altamonte Springs named Danny Palmer...
