It is not often that fans and students of collegiate teams really have a chance to send a message to their team and help lift the spirits of their school’s players. But tonight is one of those times. As the ETSU fan base and family, this is OUR time to show OUR team that we are behind them. In particular, it’s our chance to support and give our best to senior guard Courtney Pigram. Thanks to everyone who participated in this effort and it's obvious it made an impression. Did everyone see CP smiling before the tip? It's my understanding he commented on the e-mails and support in the postgame press conference. Let's see how the media handle things with the story.

This is what it's all about folks. Great job coming together as a family and fan base!

I guess there is no way to know which emails made the cut.


I would say that this is a good start and something to build on and I am very very happy.....but we're not there yet.

I just talked to some people in the department to try and find out which ones made the cut. All the ones directed at CP were read by CP. The ones that also mentioned the team were posted in the locker room. I know yours and the "I believe" e-mail were on the main board in the locker room. You guys made a difference. This was a good night to be a Buccaneer.

They are also saying that Bartow and Mullins were both very appreciative and thought it was great seeing the fans come together for a common cause. All in all a good night. One down and four to go.

Pigram broke out of recent scoring slump with 16 points and also had seven assists to lead the Bucs past Kennesaw State 81-46 before a crowd of 3,149 in Memorial Center.

“When I stepped on the court, the fans were chanting, ‘Courtney,’” Pigram said with a sheepish smile. “That really lifted me.”

Pigram then went out and made his first shot on the way to 10 first-half points. He hadn’t scored in double figures the last three games and managed only two points in each of the last two.

Making matters worse, the Bucs had lost four of their last five games to essentially fall back in the Atlantic Sun Conference race. They now stand at 13-6 (19-10 overall) with only a home game Saturday against Mercer left in the regular season.

Sports information director Mike White said about 30 e-mails from fans offering support for Pigram had been received by the basketball office and forwarded to the player. He made mention of it in his post-game comments.

“The e-mails I received were encouraging,” said Pigram. “I want to thank the fans for standing behind me and standing with the team. I hope we can keep it rolling.”

buc2002 and I talked about this and we have decided to continue the emails. This positive attitude needs to continue throughout the tournament. Tomorrow we want everyone who sent an email from the other day to send a reply in basically saying that we acknowledge and appreciate their efforts. That we are proud of the team and our faith has been rewarded. If they win against Mercer then we will probably organize one more email for the tournament.

Now this is something we are going to not run into the ground by doing it next year and therefor rendering it meaningless....but we continuing the emails for the remainder of this year (two more times) will not be in danger of running it into the ground. We believe and hope that continue to lift their spirits and help keep them focussed. We're not going to quit on this team in the basic message here.


Okay that's the basics of it....You have your orders....get to it! Go Bucs!

Keep them going folks. It apparently worked.

It was wonderful that something like an e-mail would have such an effect. Let us all keep it up. Those players are talented and deserve it.

Did they mention this website or just that there was an e-mail campaign by fans? I doubt they would mention "etsufans.com," especially in the Johnson City Press, there's too much negativity about their own publication for them to direct anyone there.

all the press that I have heard/saw/read has only mentioned the emails and nothing about the actual site etsufans.com
