83 to 67, we take the gas.

It is over as we drop below 500 in the A Sun.

Keep the faith, we can and should expect to win in basketball.

Well I wouldn't be shocked if the Camels won only 1 more game the rest of the way. I am just baffled by how Coach Laing is still there. He continually gets out coached, has poor rotations of players, and doesn't seem to be able to coach his players to improve their weaknesses. Losing, or rather, choking to Belmont might have cost this team a chance to do something much improved from last year, and maybe something special. Instead I'll continue to go to these games and never know what CU team will show up. The loss to Belmont, I think, will have an effect much like Jake Wohlfeil's 1 or 2 game suspension last year, that was at the exact wrong time, and turned a great start in ASun play into another mediocre season. Oh well. At least they are showing signs of improving, unlike the women's team - my golly they are tough to watch.

RE: Camels vs Bisons
I don't even think we showed up for the game tonight. The guys looked beat when they walked on the the court. Laing looked upset and he looked through the stands and did not see enough people to fill up Carter Gym. A few more came in late but it looked pretty bleak at game time.

I think the guys are beat and the year is done. I will still come out and support the team but I have no real expectations for the rest of the season. My predictions are that we finish with 7 A-Sun wins and 10 wins on the season. That means we drop the next 5 games. Yes even to N. Florida. Then we go into the tournament as the last seed and probably get our hat handed to us in the first rouund. One round and done again. The way we played this evening we would be lucky to beat the girls team.

The best entertainment I got out of the game was watching one of the refs flirt with the cheerleaders. He payed a lot more attention to them than he did to what was going on the court.

It is a real shame about our performance this year because we have the best talent we have had since Laing has been at Campbell and we have played the weakest schedule this year and we may not win any more games than we did last year.

I think Robbie Laing is a real nice guy and I like him but if he can't move the program forward with the talent and depth we have this year then it ain't going to happen. Some decisions need to be made about whether we want to have a winning program and fill the seats or just muddle along as we are doing and win 9 or 10 games a year. We had more students going to the games at Carter Gym last year than we have at several of the games this year. I think it was pretty apparent tonight. I think Laing finally figured that out when he looked at the crowd tonight.
We were beat before we ever took the floor and by a team that we should beat by 10.

I hope I am wrong about this but so far it seems to be working out that way. Maybe things will change.

RE: Camels vs Bisons
Did anyone else hear the pregame tonight? Unless I am dreaming I heard Laing say that missing all of the free throws against Belmont was not a mistake. He said that he did not consider missing free throws as a mistake.

This is exactly the problem. If you are going to win you have to make free throws. The fact that you aren't making the players shoot free throws until they make a lot more than they miss is the first sign of a mistake. We sure did not learn too much from last Friday. Tonight we bricked about as many free throws as we did against Belmont percentage wise. I know free throws can be made on that end of the court because Lipscomb made one or two. Missing free throws like we have lately shows poor concentration on the part of the players and poor preparation on behalf of the coaching staff. Free throws are one of the most basic parts to basketball. If you can't hit a three or can't make a shot when guarded you surely should be able to make a free shot with no one guarding you. You have to practice, practice, practice to be proficient at the line. We have evidently missed this some where along the line. And coach that is a mistake. A big one that not only cost us the game against Belmont but has cost us one against Stetson earlier in the year and several other close games. It also put a big wrench in our momentum and may have ended our season. Missing free throws is a mistake and someone needs to get that point across to the coaching staff.
