Interesting little trip
I missed the last 1:31 of the Pitt game because I had an appointment at Vanderbilt (2:45 by car). But since I no longer drive due to a neurological condition that has caused me to pass out while driving 3 times in my life, I had to take a bus. Nashville's bus station is about 2 miles from Vandy Med Center, so I walked music row both ways, singing various songs to pass the time and waving to folks I saw (mostly to f#ck with 'em).

It's now 4 years since my transplant, and the doc says my numbers are in the groove and I'm one of his model patients. If everything stays in the groove, when I see him this summer for my 5th anniversary visit he's going to start seeing me once a year.

Now all I need is for somebody in the city government to exercise a modicum of common sense. Ah well, I suppose that is expecting miracles...

Basically, I've been up since yesterday. I'm pooped and hittin' the sack. L8r...

Way to go Bit!

Keep on waving! It will give them something to talk about! (Did you know him? I don't know him. Where did we meet him? etc...)

Mostly what they were saying was, 'who the hell is that?'; 'is he anybody?'; and 'No. I've never seen or heard anything about anyone like that.'

I did sit and chat with some musicians in town trying to make it. They didn't play bad either. I was getting tired and felt like a cup of coffee. The song I heard 'em playing as I came up was one I liked to sing, so I joined 'em on it. We got to talking, and one thing led to another. They were the only other bearded, long haired people around. So I felt most comfortable with 'em, when not talking to the folks at Vandy, or the folks I was stuck on the bus with. I hope they make it. But it's a tough road to hoe...

The trip back home was a bit of a struggle though. I had a running conversation the entire trip with this fellow from Honduras. He spoke to me in spanish, with some bad english thrown in for good measure, and I spoke back in a patois of spanish (what little I knew), english, and french (he knew a bit).* We got the gist of a good bit of what each other was saying. But the level of communication was spurious to say the least...

* NOTE: There was this Marine just out of boot who was bi-lingual that helped us out, when he wasn't talking to his boot camp buddies. They were getting posted in Afghanistan. I wished 'em luck and a safe return.

RE: Interesting little trip
Glad to hear the good medical news. Nashville is a place I've been looking to get to for sometime now. I've been to Knoxville about 12 years ago as I have some family living down there.
