Dixon and WVU...
If I am not mistaken, Jaime Dixon will be the first Pitt head coach to win 3 games at the Coliseum. Hard to believe.

RE: Dixon and WVU...
Pitt is going to be a tough game for every team in the conference. From what I've seen so far, Pitt is the best team WVU has played. I'd give the Panthers a leg up on winning the conference. If Blair and Young avoid injury, I don't think anyone will be able to challenge over the long haul. Both of 'em are wide loads...

One thing of note, giving all Mountaineer fans some glimmer of hope out of their recent @ss whippin'. While rubbing our collective @sses, we can take solice from the fact that out of all the turnovers WVU committed in the game, Truck Bryant committed only one, while dishing out 6 assists. He scored 12 points, although he didn't have his 3-point range last night [0-4]. The rest of the team committed way too many turnovers. Almost every one of 'em happened because the player was worrying about what he was going to next, instead of what he was doing...

De'Sean Butler scored 21
(2-5 from 3), and Ruoff hit his average, against Pitt, who now has the best defensive [scoring] team in the conference (I think - after this game is calc'd in). Disregard the 4 turnovers, and Devin Ebanks played well. But he looked like a freshman. Kevin Jones, another freshman, played well too. Give Jones another year or 2 under Huggins, and he's going to be a gorilla down low...

WVU has a bright future. We get everyone, except Ruoff, back next year
... 04-cheers

Pitt83,

Not sure if you saw this (from Pitt's Rivals BB board) but here's a random recent historical fact:

In the past nine seasons Pitt has advanced to the Sweet Sixteen four times. Each of those seasons have a commonality...Pitt beat WVU at Morgantown.

In the other five seasons of the past nine where Pitt did not reach the Sweet Sixteen, Pitt has lost at Morgantown.

Of course, I hope Pitt goes further this year.

04-cheers

Pitt seems to have all of the peices this season to make a ff run. In past years, they were not a good scoring team, but the defense fantastic. This season they can really score and the defense is still tremendous.

What a quirky stat. I didn't realize that so it bodes well for us to at least get to the 16 but really, stopping there would be frustrating.

This team needs Young and Blair to be strong down the stretch. Without these two we probably won't get out of 16. With these two and good guard play, the sky's the limit.

Maybe this is the year Pitt fans won't be saying, "Yea but we'll get 'em next year" 03-weeping
