Their recruiting has been amazing. IMO the bulls will be very mediocre next year, with limited talent on the offensive line and too many discipline issues across the board, but they could easily wind up being the conference's Miami in a few years.

Yep this guy will be a blazer. But I disagree with your assesment for the Bulls in 2009. The OLine while having less experience could be more talented than last year. We return one starter at guard, getting a tackle that started as a freshmen at FSU, two players that played and started games last year and could be adding a huge OT JUCO that could be a starter.
As for the discipline issues I really dont know what you are refering to, if that means excesive penalties well all you have to look is at UF,FSU etc it seem aflorida trend to commit penalties some are bonehead ones and must be corrected others are because of agressiveness. USF will never be among least penalzed teams.
Im telling you guys that USF will be a force in the 2009 Big east race.

Correct, USF's O-line will actually be MORE talented this year in spite of losing starters. Good depth is being built all across the board. Now if we can just finish the job one year...

Actually, I thought it was 6 4 stars now.

1. Bellamy
2. Battles
3. Stirrups
4. Thornton
5. Giddins
6. Williams

Also not including Rose who is a big time transfer.
Sturrups is a 4 star on scout but 3 on rivals. So i guess if you take the highest ranking from each site we have 6 03-wink

I really never bother with scout though personally.

I love what we are doing this year, same with Rutgers and WVU. Pitt is lower than they have been under wanny but i think they will move up some in the next couple of weeks.

Louisville and UCONN are huge dissapointments. How has louisville fallen this far? And why coming off of back to back good seasons cant uconn get 3 star recruits even? Both of you are ranked below freaking Kent State. You guys should at the very least be in the 50s.

As for syracuse. I dont know what the hell you guys are doing. 6 commitments this late in the game? Rivals currently has you tied with Richmond one spot below Northwestern State (not northwestern, northwestern STATE). Are you guys ever going to be good again? Im not trying to be an ass, i want you guys to be good, you have history and name recognition, something the BE needs more of.

In fact if you look at their Top 40 Rankings

2008 Pitt #28

WV #19,Rutgers #34, USF #35, Pitt at #49 will move up with getting Mason

USF is 31 on Scout, and it looked like Pitt was right there around 30 too. 4 potential top 30 recruiting classes in BE. That is huge.

[b]Cuse fans, what is going on with cuse recruiting, scout has them at 106, below Mac and SB schools. This is not a knock, just wondering if there were some good recruits on the horizon?

We have some pretty decent recruits that the new coaching staff is working on. This may turn out to be a lame duck recruiting season because not many recruits would commit knowing that the old staff were on their way out and not knowing who the new coaching staff will be. Coach Marrone still has not completed his coaching staff at this time. But we have a few good players on the radar. This staff is making their way back into Florida, which is how former coach Pasqualoni used to make his living. Because our team was freshman and sophomores laden this past season, SU only has between 13-15 scholarships available, so this class will not be ranked all that high unless he fills the remaining roster with all 4 and 5 star recruits.03-lmfao

Seriously, there is talent on this team now. Since 2005 SU's recruiting class has ranked between 3rd and 5th every year in the BE. The coaching staff was not able to develop and coach the talent in this team. Coach Marrone says that he will win with the present talent. If the guy is just a little better coach than Gerg, I believe he will win with the present talent. SU is in on some good 4 star recruits, its just a mtter of time.

Cuban, I based my post on the Scout rankings about more than one team being ranked in the top 25 recruiting. They have been a little more generous in ranking BE recruiting. In 2007 Scout had Pitt ranked #8 and WV ranked #18 in recruiting.

scout is definitely a better indicator way too much bias particulary acc bias in rivals and big east teams continually get the shaft. just look at the past 5 years all the top teams are ranked considerably higher in scout. but to their credit they have been much better this year, although logan heastie going from one of the top 2 or 3 receivers in the nation to barely a 4 star in rivals is pure bs.

Yes, that does mean the bulls commit too many needless penalties. The O-Line will need to show it can play at a high level, and bear in mind that FSU's lines have been terrible recently until this year...

USF has the most speed and talent in the conference. With roadies to Rutgers, Pitt, and UConn, I'm not so sure it will matter. As soon as USF starts winning the battle in the trenches, it's over for the rest of the teams in the Big East IMO...but that day won't come for a couple of years. Again, JMO, perhaps I'm wrong and USF will win a BCS bowl game next year.

i won't sugarcoat it, we had one of the worst offensive lines in the big east last year if not the worst, true part of it was due to lack of talent and depth, but i think the bigger problem was the scheme we were trying to run did not fit our personnel, i also have serious doubts about our ability to coach up our lineman as we took a big step backward despite returning almost our entire line.

We also had a lot of injuries and really no depth on the OLine. True it was not a very talented line but the constant shuffling on positions hurt the growth of it. Had we been healthy all season we could had won at least 2 more games. But thats the big problem that USF is addresing while our starters are god enough to compete their back ups are not there yet. So as soon as injuries mount we suffer and that has happened midway of season past two years. We are finally geting talent to be bback ups and OLine is our weakest point in that regards

on paper we had okay talent, definitely not the worst in the be, and obviously a lot of experience, so some blame has to go to coaching, simmonds has a lot to prove this year and i'm sure they'll be some changes with our o-line as the new coordinator comes in. unfortunately even if we do improve our competition will be much more difficult than last year. however, if we get daron rose and the juco, savala, to come in time to learn the system i think we'll be okay if not look for the o-line to once again be a glaring liability.

UC, with their 50-60-something recruiting classes, will be waiting 03-nerner

Seriously, congrats Bulls.
