Lincoln Memorial to the A-Sun as well. Another nice rumor out there. That is a travel partner for ETSU, which looks like ETSU has long term plans to be in this league. Sorry Buc fans who hate this place.

I would just as soon be in the A-sun as the Big South. Having said that I don't want to be in either.

RE: rumor
Well the one school that has always made sense from the geographic point of view is Campbell. They were I believe founding members of the Big South before leaving years ago for the TAAC/ASun. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe CU left due to scheduling differences between the school and the conference that could not be worked out.

One thing is for sure... If the ASun is going to be adding a 12th member anytime in the near future, it certainly would be good for CU if this school was located somewhere fairly close to Buies Creek.

I've heard the same thing with Jacksonville. I just don't see JU adding schollies for FB though.

I concur with BF on this one. I live in the Jax area and the biggest reason I've heard regarding JU not going to scholarship football at the I-AA/FCS level is cost. Being a very small private university makes it a extremely difficult road to haul for sure, and I'm sure the same holds true for Campbell University.

Of course you never know. 15 years ago the thought of any kind of football at Jacksonville University would get a huge chuckle from anyone in the know in the Jax area.

I have not heard any rumors but it would make sense to me for Campbell to be in the Big South. I can never attend any conference road games (other than Upstate) because they are just too far.

I actually disagree with why Campbell ever got out of the Big South. Nothing against the A-Sun at all, I like the conference. It just makes more sense for Campbell to be in teh Big South. Maybe that is why Gardner Webb made the switch last year.

Have not heard anything on this though.

I haven't heard anything, either.

There have been lots of changes at CU over the past few years, so who knows.

Regarding Lincoln Memorial.....yet another school that needs a name change. Why not just "Lincoln University", or is there some kind of distance-learning school named that? LMU is a pretty good D-2 program and I forgot they are in the SAC with NC schools Wingate, Catawba, and Lenoir-Rhyne. The "Railsplitters" and the "Hatters" would be an intriguing match-up.

If LMU joins the ASUN I may jump from the nearest roof. WE NEED TO QUIT BRINGING IN D2 SCHOOLS. Now you know why ETSU fans say this is nothing more than a glorified D2 league.

W.Florida would be the next school in the A-Sun footprint moving up. If they don't add football then the A-Sun will be their home. If they do add football they'll probably be in the GSC until they can afford to move to D-I and the Big South. I'm on the D-II board all the time and there is nothing on Lincoln-Memorial moving up. There's a whole thread with UWF press release about them moving up.

Nobody is moving until either 2011 or 2012, there's some sort of moratorium on teams moving up. I've also heard West Georgia and North Alabama are looking at moving up. I could see UNA going Big South or OVC thinking that they can win quickly in those conferences.

LMU's President just resigned to take the job as President of Tusculum College. If it was her vision to move to D1, then look for her to pursue that vision at Tusculum.

LMU has put a lot of things on hold until a new president is named.

TC Enrollment? 2300. It has approximately twice as many students as Wofford 1300. It is approximately 3 times larger than the smallest D1 school. (Centenary is the smallest D1 school with 801 students.)

Their new president is known for her drive to accomplish her vision. LMU (enrollment 2100) developed a 600 student D.O. school during her tenure and is slated to open a Law school this fall. If she has a passion for D1 athletics don't count her out.

It doesn't hurt that Tusculum has a generous billionaire benefactor.

That's true. I propose this though, how many of those 2300 students are full-time, TRADITIONAL students. Isn't Tusculum making it through their satellite and adult degree programs? Plus, for basketball they don't have a facility to play in. TC's gym makes Campbell's old facility look like Rupp Arena. They can't drive to Bristol and play at the Bearcat Den.

Whether a student is traditional or non-traditional full-time or part-time isn't relevant.
