With inflation shouldn't every inauguration be the most expensive ever?

Funny how this only works one way.

Anyway, when it's said and done and it only comes in at $110M, you can rub it in my face.03-shhhh

RE: Most expensive inaguration ever
I can only say this, as a fiscal conservative....

If they truly have 2M people show up, they have to put a lot of security in place. That is by far the largest expense of this inauguration. You can get mad about inaugural balls (if they are paid by tax payers), but you can't complain about the cost of security, or the parade. His parade will probably fit in line with other Presidents in terms of cost... security is put in place by the federal government, they are spending what they think they need to properly protect the President. I would hope they would do the same for any and all presidents.

I thought every new inauguration would cost more than the one that came before it.

So if Media Matters is correct,

Quote:So the bottom line for Bush's 2005 inauguration, including the cost of security? That's right, $157 million.

is there anyone here watching this weeks events? You seriously are going to claim it wont cost 160 million? 2005 was a tea party compared to what's going on this week. I don't see anything in flames, except for "the change".

If Obama is so concerned about people doing community service then this hootenanny shouldn't cost a dime because everyone should have volunteered. And how come no one on the left is screaming about the gigantic carbon footprint this thing is going to make?

RE: Most expensive inaguration ever
.

Ticket Scalpers are demanding upwards of $20,000 Dollars for Inaugural Tickets.

Of course you can get in for free if you Rub your Congressman's Behind in the right place, but then that is for the Rocket-Fellers, Forbes, Morgan's. Guggenheim's, Schwab's, and such 'above white trash' types as those .... I ain't one of 'em (thank you LORD !!!!)

I would love a list of those willing to pay $20,000 PLUS Dollars for attending this "Non-Event" ..... I mean this is like watching the "Chess & Solitaire Channel" !!!!!!

Huffington Post is right-wing?

Well, its technically a news aggregator. Outside of some freelance columnists, everything they post is simply taken (I would argue stolen) from other sources. Now yes, it tends to be a liberal viewpoint. But the HP dosent have its own reporters writing stories as a traditional paper would.
