Pitt still #1 in Coaches Poll - BE with 8 teams in Top 25

BC does as well, but incredibly they still wind up with 6 votes. 01-wingedeagle

I think we'll see 7 or 8 Big East teams in the poll most weeks as the season progresses. It seems like it will be difficult to keep an 8th or at least 9th team in, as they will likely be losing once a week if they are anywhere near .500 in the league.

Oh, I agree. I just hope that we manage to keep 7 in the polls by the end of February with at least 3 of them in the Top 10.

Please note that despite all the hype the league is getting (perhaps not quite warranted yet) the highest 1-loss team belongs to the ACC, the highest 2-loss team belongs to the ACC, the highest 3-loss team belongs to the Big 12, and the highest 4-loss team belongs to the Big Ten.

Our better teams are going to accrue losses more quickly now and if this trend continues, it may not bode well for keeping teams in the Top 10, even though they may remain in the Top 25.

Cheers,
Neil

To basically agree with you Omni, I think come tourney time we very well may see one or two league teams with a #1 or #2 seed, than a boatload of BE teams with #3-5 seeds.

Speaking of... here's what Lunardi says currently. Subject to great change of course, although it'd be great to keep this type of seeding overall.

1- Pitt
1- UConn
2- Syracuse
3- UofL
3- GTown
4- Marquette
4- Notre Dame
8- Villanova
8- WVU

Amazing how you can lose on the road to the #14 team and drop 15 spots. But if you're an ACC team you can lose at home to a horrible team and only drop two spots.

WVU could have lost on the road to #1 by 1 point, and they'd still drop like a stone. That's been the modus operandi since the dawn of Mountaineer sports...
