Cool Do you guys see Tuberville a good fit at UL
Aside from his last name our name matching up, what do you think?

There is a rumor/speculation on our scout board that he was in town over the holidays for a meeting. Not sure if it was a meet and greet with TJ for maybe getting next years list of candidates ready or what.

Outside of UL fans, do you think this is a good fit? Our stadium expansion will be ready for the 2010 season and the program will need a jolt. I'm not sure long term if he is the right one but anything is better than status quo. I'm suspectful of his offense, except for the Ronnie/Cadillac days, he has mostly been a defense team.

UL/Jurich will have to make a big splash like he did when replacing Crum with Pitino to get the fanbase/players excited again. I fully expect this to happen. Krags will get his complementary 3rd year then we will sign a name coach with success in the past, just can't pin point who.

Tuberville would do better at UofL than Kragthorpe is doing. That's for sure. If Jurich is planning to move in another direction, Tubs would be a good direction to move to - regardless of what the folks at Auburn think...

My choice for coaches if available are the following once that walking diaster is gone.

1. Tommy Tuberville
2. Jeff Jagodzinski
3. Turner Gill
4. Charlie Strong

Let's be honest, Madden 09 would do a better job coaching than Failthorpe. To answer the original question though, whoever we hire needs to be a highly skilled/big-name/quality coach. Cardinal football is starting to look like Carthage after the Third Punic War and it is going to take a massive effort to get us back after Failthorpe's tenure is over.

Agree. Anyone would be an improvement over Krags. He's the only coach that actually made GumpRob look good.

Hope TJ has the guts to separate friendship from good business.

Awful late though to put together a quality staff.

Cheers,
Neil

RE: Do you guys see Tuberville a good fit at UL
I think the Tuberville on UL campus has legs. The guy who brought it up is pretty credible, not a run of the mouth rumor spreader, and he basically insenuated he knows that Tuber took a car to the campus for a meeting. Guy could work at a rental kiosk at the airport, taxi, limo, etc. I just don't think it was a fabricated rumor. Now, I doubt seriously that it was a come here we'll talk and maybe you leave as the 2009 UL coach. It was probably more of a meet and greet for next year, and he is probably doing the same with other schools.

I can only hope that Jurich has finally come to that point where he is doing meet and greets with coaching candidates, because that is a big step for him to get over with this particular situation (Krags and him being buds) But I think he finally sees its not working out, and with the flurry of coaches leaving following all the player dismissals it is coming to a head with the bismal recruiting class. Jurich will have to find a way to convince a known coach with prior success to come here and start the rebuilding project. He will also have to find money to pay for the coach and assistants. I'd say that will have to come on a bit of gamble that season tickets sky rocket for the expansion based on the name of the coach coming in. All interesting stuff for yet another interesting offseason at The Ville.

Interesting stuff Dgrace... He'd be a great fit.

Kind of funny how it would all come full circle... when a few years ago, the secret meeting at AU with Bobby about taking over for TT. Now, he'd come to UL instead.

We'll see 07-coffee3

Tuberville is a great coach and a great recruiter. Plus, unlike Petrino, he's a very personable guy. Petrino can coach, but he's a hard guy to like. To be honest he's a prick. Converesly, Tuberville is a good guy. Plus, I think he's just as good a coach as Petrino. Maybe better.

Jurich told Krag to hold to hire Tuberville as DC so he is in place on the coaching staff next year when Jurich fires Krag. 04-jawdrop 03-melodramatic 03-nutkick 03-lmfao 05-stirthepot 04-cheers

Jurich always has a short list of coaches in every sport. My guess if this is true is that Tuberville is being lined up as a potential candidate should 2009 be another losing season and he lets Krags go. So basically we wont know anything until Jan 2010.

One major advantage of Tubberville (over Jag and Gill) is that he has obviously a TON of recruiting connections in the Southeast...which use to be UL's recruiting strong-hold which has somewhat changed under Krag.

If they'd grab him now, all of Auburn's decommits might suddenly decide Louisville is the place for them...

You would be very fortunate if you are able to get TT...keeping him is another matter. He is an outstanding coach.

If UL wants to win, hire Tuberville ASAP. I can see him being there for 10 years. I don't think he is a greedy ahole like Petrino.
