Democrats start with earmarks aplenty
Partisan wrangling mars Senate wilderness bill
This bill has more pork than a Jimmy Dean Sausage Factory.
Quote:For example, Coburn said, the bill includes $3 million for a "road to nowhere" through the Izembek National Wildlife Refuge in Alaska; $460 million for a water project designed to save 500 salmon in California; and $3.5 million to help celebrate the 450th birthday of St. Augustine, Fla., in 2015.
This is exactly what we need to do when Obama is already proposing a nearly $1trillion deficit addition for "economic stimulus".
The democrats now mostly unchecked are going to ruin this country.

A few fishermen with appetites could fish those 500 salmon and save us $460 million. Hell, you could save half that money by offering a reward of half a million for each killed fish.

According to Wikipedia St. Augustine has a population of 12,157. At $3.5 mil that's $288 per resident. Nice.

The Democrats? Alaska had two Republican senators when the bill was written & the environmentalists are opposed to the road. It seems like the Republicans will be more than willing to help lead us to ruin.
