Opening Date on 2009 Schedule
With the dates for our non-conference games set, I've been curious about the open date for the first week. I looked through our conference opponents' schedules and found three possibilities. Southern Miss and Rice are both open for that date, and their non-conference schedules are set. UCF is also open for that date, but they still have one more non-conference game to add. We play all three at home this season.
What do you guys think about opening up the season with a home conference game again? I would rather start off with one instead of a bye. Plus I think we have a great shot at winning the Rice and UCF games, which would start the season off right and give the team some confidence early.

Sounds like it should be Rice. I don't think we would play a division opponent that early in the season. I don't know how winnable Rice is, because I don't know how there team will play next season. I'm damn sure glad we didn't play them this year. USM will be better than us, and UCF just blows. I'd rather get the USM loss out the way and build from there.
