What does that article have to do with the current climate debate? Nothing. Everything I have read seemed to imply that Cro-Magnon just outcompeted Neanderthals, had nothing to do with climate directly. I don't recall any supposed scientific consensus about that one way or the other.

I have read text and historical writings, where they say Cro-Magnon Man moved from a more Northern and Colder Climate, to the region around Israel.

And many debates happen regarding if Cro-Magnon simply "out did Neanderthals" or if this was a Selective Extinction since they evidently could not keep up in a more modern world where a more Sophisticated Being was now living and thriving.

I have even read the theory of open war on Neanderthals by Cro-Magnon Man that was an easy victory .... so extinction was not Selective in that case.

And then I have read where Neanderthal and Cro-Magnon Man intermarried and this basically and genetically eroded the Neanderthal Population and folded them into Modern Man.

Some scientists are challenging the THEORY that the dinosaurs went extinct because of an asteroid. They now say that most dinosaurs were gone long before the KT extinction caused by the Chicxulub crater. These scientific THEORIES are debated Ad-nauseum. Fact is we don't know what happened 65 million years ago any more than we know what happened 100,000 years ago or even some things 10,000 years ago. We as a species are self-absorbed. And I'm talking about every human being alive with only a few exceptions. Kinda like my Albert Einstein Sig. tag. He could have added self absorbed to human stupid and been 100% correct.

I doubt that anybody has ever been able to make predictions based on the theory that an asteroid wiped out the dinosaurs, and then run an experiment to see if the prediction was right. When I read articles about the dinosaurs demise, they were generally articles that didn't imply that an asteroid impact caused it without a doubt. I read an article years ago in Scientific American that had volcanism as the reason the dinosaurs died out.

I never had the impression than the asteroid impact was an open-and-shut case, though some popular media outlets do kind of portray it that way.

Maybe the dinosaurs wiped out the Neanderthals (because Cro-Magnons were smart enough to hide in caves). In the process the dinosaurs got the bones caught in their throats, and died out.

Sorry, just trying to somehow tie the original post to the digression about the dinosaurs, and neatly answer both questions. By the way, how do I get emoticons back? They seem to have disappeared some time ago.
