I love Joe Foley's philosophy.
Let the shooters shoot. He says that every shooter has bad nights, but he encourages them to keep shooting. Chastity Reed took 22 shots last night, and only made eight, but the eight she made came after missing her first seven. They were mostly good shots, but they just wouldn't go in. But when the game was on the line, she made several of her shots.
Had he pulled her, or discouraged her from shooting, we would not have won the game. I'd love to see III get to take 22 shots in a game sometime. Sure, he'd have some off nights, but he would also scorch the nets a lot of times too. But I'm a dreamer. Ain't gonna happen under our current regime. 180 degree difference in philosophies!

I agree, and every basketball fan knows that to be true. That isn't true for every player, just the shooters. Some of the others shouldn't be shooting much in the first place. Same way a hitter in baseball comes out of a slump. You've got to keep swinging.
And yes, it's possible that had he pulled her or told her to stop shooting, that we might not have won the game. She played a very big part in our comeback. I'll admit that I had the "deer in the headlights look" when we got down by twelve and couldn't hit any shots. But, the good thing is, the team didn't. Our women are a pretty good team even when they are having a off night. When they're on, they can be very good.

Good shooters should know if it is just an off night, or if they are out of sync and something is wrong. There is a difference. If it is just a bad night, they may shoot their way out of it if their stroke is fundamentally right.
