Chicken or the egg?
I guess there are some who will argue we didn't deserved bigger crowds for Wright State or Rice. But I sometimes wonder if a crowd of 5000 would have made a difference in those kind of games. According to Jeff's Blog the Wright State players were joking about the attendance at their game and it was much better than what we had yesterday. Can't be too intimidating for the visiting team. We win those games, we're 9-2 and likely looking at larger crowds in upcoming games. So you need to win to get people to come to the games, but sometimes you need a crowd to get you over the hump. I think the crowd really did make the difference in the Creighton game. On the other hand, I could generally count the "crowd" when Ron Kestenbaum was here and he had an incredible winning record at Barton. It's possible that a team whose focus is playing hard-nosed defense for 30-35 seconds (like the current one) may need a crowd more than a run and gun team.

Coach Foley and the ladies seem to do quiet well without huge crowds. I think it comes down to mental toughness and pride to get a streak going at home. The crowd certainly helps, but ultimatly it's the kids on the court who get it done, or not. Hats off to the ladies and Coach Foley for winning at home and here's hoping the men get that edge to them. In the mean time We faithful fans will still go and root on our Trojans
