Apoligies
Wow!!!...I go away for a couple days and come back looking silly..01-lauramac2...my apologies go out to the guys to the gys who called the English hire and I kinda blasted them, I wasnt very "updated". English did turn down the 1st interview request and Im glad he changed his mind. Think Lloyd had anything to do with his change of mind?...lol...I think it s agreat choice for EMU, alot of the players (and former players) are excited about English....you guys who had the English scoop...GOOD JOB!!....04-bow

Warror:

I thought that is EXACTLY what happened.

It appeared that English was out of the EMU picture and set to be named DC at the University of Washington.

That is completely consistent with a person who turned down an interview at EMU.

I think you missed the 'right turn' that apparently occurred later in the process.

It is time for kudos to WolverineEagle.

Lot of folks wanted Fred Jackson (because of his recruiting abilities and perhaps race) but maybe Carr and Gragg had 2nd thoughts about him as HC.

If Jackson was the man I doubt English would have been back in play.

Jackson appears to be a great position coach, Loeffler a potential excellent OC and HC in time (3 - 10 years) and English the right man at the right time for EMU.

The process appears to have worked perfectly (IMO) and the result is the result everyone wanted.

Has there every been a better 'search committee' then Gragg and Carr who know most of the candidates. This is almost unreal.

Tomorrow could be a great day for EMU FB. 02-13-banana

I agree Steve, anybody who is a EMU football fan should be excited. Im thinkin this is why it has taken so long to name a coach, Carr and Gragg probably thought they still had a shot at English...a little arm twisting and sweetning the pot maybe?...03-idea

Agree, Warrior.

What I think is happening is that contract negotiations are going on (and that could mean getting the approvals of Dr. Martin and at least one member of the Regents, presumably Stapleton, who is working on this issue). Money could be the issue.

Do remember, he apparently made good $ at UofM, L'ville and probably has a nice offer on the table from the UofWashington.

EMU might be hard pressed to go over his previous salaries.

IF the negotiations fail, Chuck Martin is presumably in the bullpen and ready to enter into negotiations.

I never assumed that Gragg is 'debating' English vs. Martin. Martin is the back up choice.

RE: Apoligies
Until contracts are signed lets not figure RE as our coach. Just because ESPN reports it it does not mean that it's a lock. Wasn't it ESPN (Herstreit) that reported Les Miles to UM last year. Oops.
