With The Liberty Bowl
If Memphis was a BEast member and we were in the Liberty Bowl this year it would be WVU vs. UK. OH BABY!! I would love to have seen that! There would be nothing quite as satisfying than seeing The BEast hand it to UK! Oh well, I can always dream!

RE: With The Liberty Bowl
Where would the Liberty Bowl be in the selection order for the Big East if it had a Big East tie in ?

This would be my guess
  1. BCS ($$$)
  2. Gator ($2.75M)/
    Sun ( $1.9M)
  3. Liberty ($1.7M)
  4. Meineke Car Care ($1M)
  5. St. Pete ( $1M)
  6. Independence ($1.1M)
  7. (out) PapaJohns.com ($300K)

that would be a pretty good bowl lineup. however, i think you meant the international bowl, not the independence bowl.

As it is you have ECU vs Kentucky. Pirates beat ACC champs VA Tech and WVU.Also defeated Memphis.
We have our own ax to grind with UK so you can emotionally latch on for the ride if you wish!04-cheers

yes thats exactly how it would be, ideally with the sun gone and a yearly tie in with gator though

i wouldnt mind getting the texas bowl as a matchup with big 12 though and dumping international or papa johns

I'd love to see ECU play against UNC in the Meineke Car Care Bowl.

Memphis is within a decent drivable range for most of The BEast. But even USF and UConn fans could make the drive in one day...

What do you consider indecent driving range?

What's an indecent driving distance depends on your perspective. What's indecent for you may be a drive across town. I don't know your situation.

I remember driving Dallas to Chicago in one day. I did similar on drives from Charleston, WV to Boston, when I lived up in New England. Both are about an 18 hour drive. A drive to Memphis isn't that much farther, if you take the direct route. There isn't a direct route to West Virginia - unless you're nearly there already.

I'm not able to drive any longer, so it's hard for me to say. A drive of 5 feet is indecent for me now...

If you're college age or slightly older a drive from boston to miami or chicago should be a breeze. Once you're older and have more responsibiliteis its more difficult.

RE: With The Liberty Bowl
Thats why I have said many times that adding Memphis makes sense. You will have 9 BE football teams so that would mean 4-4 home-away conference games. You are adding a NEW area to BE football and adding Liberty Bowl.
The BE Bowl set up then becomes:
1. BCS
2. Gator vs ACC
3. Liberty vs SEC
4. Meineke vs ACC
5. St Pete I think this could become an ACC-BE match up
6. PapaJohns
7. Toronto
I think the Liberty and Meineke can work with each other to chose team that will fit them better.
I think you have in BCS, Liberty and Meineke you have 4 bowls that are atractive to our fan bases and the St Pete Bowl is one that has lots of potential if they work on logistics

RE: With The Liberty Bowl
Liberty bowl with Memphis is a no brainer, however doesn't seem to be possiable.
Wash bowl was disaster with weather & crowd, BE has to take controll of this game &
move to Indainapolis vs B-10.
Untill BE gets timetable on when Dome is to be built in Birmingham, BE should be looking at
Moter city bowl, I know you don't want 2 MAC bowls, but it beats Sun Belt in Bir.
Toronto is starting to show potential, Hoffman does great job with in Det & Tor.
With ND & Service Acd, BE might be able to sign 8 bowls

RE: With The Liberty Bowl
I think 3 hours is "easy" driving distance.
I think 6 hours is "very drivable" for one day.
Beyond that. I start thinking about a nice motel.

UK will never take a road game against a team that has a pulse other than Louisville, since dumbing down their schedule to become bowl eligible was made policy. I don't fault them too much. That is the culture in today's college football world.

I will be cheering for ECU big time. One the game is against UK and two, I like ECU.

Why would you give up a bowl game with a SEC opponent??

Because the SEC will rarely have enough teams to fill this bowl and the payout blows.

From what I'm hearing it may be very possible. We all know that there has been a lot of speculation about Big East expansion going back as far as 2003. However, some very credible posters who seem to be "in the know" have made some fairly bold statements recently about stuff between Memphis and the Big East going on behind the scenes.

I have no idea how credible it is, but the posters who are dropping these hints are very credible.

They HAVE to say that publicly, or they could possible lose sponsorships and other variables if it was known well in advance of a split or starting up a new conf.
