What is your point? Are you talking about the whole conference or one team? Your whole conference as a whole is just not good. End of discussion. You are having a good year, but this is an exception not the norm. MWC fans should storm the PAC-10 forums and demand their BCS bid. This is the wrong forum.

Pac-10 has class the Big East doesn't. I would gladly take hippies in Cal or geniuses Stanford over trailer trash in Cincy, Louisville and WV.

Deliverance? Don't think so, you must be thinking of your last family reunion. Vacation? Yeah, wow, peeps come in for a short stay, then apparently can't wait to get out. Could it be the locals? Hmmm?

People from the West don't even bother going to Appalachia, it's just a drive-thru or fly-over.

Where does Appalachia come into this, del? Apparently tv has decided that you are 'fly over' thus relegated to 4th tier status ... how's that great channel working out for you? You do understand that the BE took your tv spots and you were relegated to your current status because you simply don't have the appeal that the BE does, right?

Population shift indicates the Mountain West is the fastest growing region. Plus we are relatively young and well-educated.

The "New West" is indeed the fastest growing region in the United States with a growth rate of 25.4% during the 1990s. 67% of the counties in the Rocky Mountains grew faster than the national average over the same time period (Hanson 2002).

However, the "New West" still lags far far behind other regions of the country in terms of population.

The population of the northeastern United States is 54,680,626
The population of the midwestern United States is 65,971,974*
The population of the mountain west region is 20,291,305

*Louisville is is a border city between the Upper South and Midwestern region.

RockyMtnRamfan Wrote:I would gladly take hippies in Cal or geniuses Stanford over trailer trash in Cincy, Louisville and WV. People from the West don't even bother going to Appalachia, it's just a drive-thru or fly-over.

The vast majority of new arrivals are in-migrants from other regions, especially big East Coast cities and the midwest (Hanson 2002). So by your logic, you must hate all the new arrives considering that the vast majority that are moving to the "New West" are from the regions of the country you don't seem to like?

RockyMtnRamfan Wrote:Deliverance is in your region, people vacation to ours.

Deliverance was set in Georgia which is far outside the footprint of the Big East (Midwest, Mid Atlantic, and Northeast). Also, people vacation to select spots in the Rocky Mountain (Yellowstone, Zion N.P., Denver, etc.) just like they vacation to select spots in the East (NYC, Smokey Mountains N.P., Florida, etc).

RockyMtnRamfan Wrote:People from the West don't even bother going to Appalachia, it's just a drive-thru or fly-over.

You do realize that only 2 of the 8 football schools (Pitt and WVU) are classified in the Appalachia region? Louisville, Cincinnati, Rutgers, Syracuse, UConn, and USF are all in different geography regions. The Big East is no more "Appalachian" than the SEC, Big Ten, or the MAC.

Also, let's compare a strict BE potential footprint to the broad MWC potential footprint in terms of population. I define "strict footprint" as region surronding each team in the Big East. In other words, Louisville's footprint is defined only as the city of Louisville while WVU as a state school has the state as its footprint.

Louisville - 1,245,941
Pittsburgh - 2,462,571
Cincinnati - 2,133,678
UConn - 3,502,309
WVU - 1,812,035
USF - 4 million
Syracuse - 732,117
Rutgers - 8,685,920

Total: 24,574,571

AF, CSU - 4,861,515
BYU, Utah - 2,645,330
New Mexico - 1,969,915
SDSU - 2,941,454
TCU - 6,145,037
UNLV - 1,836,333
Wyoming - 522,830

Total: 20,922,414

Even when applying a very strict definition to Big East schools, the BE footprint is larger than the entire Mountain West TV footprint.

RMR - you won't take the Big East bid. You guys said you would do it 4 years ago and fell on your face. You have had a good year this year, the best in your conference's history. The Big East is down this year, but still has a team in a respectable position.

As someone who was born and raised in Colorado........son, nobody in their right mind would EVER vacation to Fort Collins. It's an embarrassment to the state, not unlike your little athletics program.

Oh, and what's up with all the hot girls going to CU? You walk around that campus and it's like you fell into southern California. You take the hour drive up north to that scummy little mountain town and the only thing you see are fat, toothless, illiterate women. Sorta like those in Aloha Stadium last night.

Honest question: does Colorado State ever plan to beat Colorado again, or are ya'll accepting your status as an eternal afterthought in your state and your conference?
