Bowl Selection Bylaw (From NCAA Website)
30.9.2.1 Exception -- 12 Game Season. FBS

An institution with a record of six wins and six losses may be selected for participation in a bowl game under the following circumstances: (Adopted: 4/27/06 effective 8/1/06)

(a) The institution or its conference has a primary contractual affiliation, which existed prior to the first contest of the applicable season, with the sponsoring bowl organization. In the case of a conference contractual affiliation, all conference teams with winning records must be placed in one of the contracted bowl games before any institution with a record of six wins and six losses may be placed in a contracted bowl game. There shall be no contingency agreements with other sponsoring bowl organizations intended to enable an institution with a record of six wins and six losses to become eligible for those contests; or

(b) All contractual affiliations per Bylaw 30.9.2.1-(a) have been fulfilled and all institutions with winning records have received bowl invitations (either through a contractual affiliation or as an at-large selection).

HaHa--beat you by 6 minutes by posting this same Bylaw in another thread. Seriously don't you just wish this Notre Dame crap would just go away. Or better yet, have the Fightin' Leps lose their last 3 games and then they will indeed go away04-cheers

I'm not sure Notre Dame would accept a bowl bid at 6-6. It might be more fun to see if they would swallow their pride and take a low level bowl game or stay home. Two seasons in a row at home might cost Pear Bryant his job.

Notre Dame won't end up 6-6. I bet they tank the season and end up 5-7... 07-coffee3

Unfortunately, Notre Dame is considered a member of the BE for bowl purposes. That's why they have access to the BE's lower bowls (International). They didn't set up that tie-in themselves.

Please go to the other thread on this topic ... GATOR QUESTIONS ... I talked to some people and they gave me some answers, or conclusions, that we are not going to be happy with as far as a 6-6 Notre Dame is concerned.

Notre Dame only has access to the Gator/Sun and - technically - International, even though they would never accept it, because Tranghese wanted to use their name for marketing. They are not a part of the other bowl deals.
