5 Bowl Games In Last 6 Years
Despite losing an unbelievable 4 quarterbacks to injuries this year, I predict Memphis will play in another bowl game this year (due to much improvement in our running game and defense), making 5 over the last 6 years. How many schools in the nation will be able to say that?

5 bowl games in the past 6 years? Quite a few teams can lay claim to that I'd suspect.

Seeing as how there are about 430 bowl games I would venture to say a lot.

RE: 5 Bowl Games In Last 6 Years
It doesn't hurt that the NCAA continues to certify new bowls nearly every year. All we need is a handful more and every 6-6 team in the nation will be in a bowl, as the last bowl or two will have no other eligible teams. If you thought a 6-6 Purdue vs. a 6-6 Oregon St. was boring, just wait for a 6-6 La-Monroe vs. a 6-6 Utah St. Catch the excitement!

Probably more due to playing in C-USA than anything else.

If Syracuse thinks playing in C-USA is an advantage, Memphis will probably be glad to swap conferences. I think you forget the advantages of BCS money and improved recruiting due to the prestige of BCS membership. Perhaps, also, Syracuse would like to play a game or two. In my honest opinion, I think we would win. Ask UL fans what they think.

I asked a legitimate question and would like to know the answer.

According to the link below, there are 22 teams that have gone to bowl games the last 5 years or more in a row.

If WVU wins The BEast, we can say 4 BCS bowls in the last 5 years. Now that is something worth saying. Just any bowl game is irrelevant... 07-coffee3

I don't know UL lost to us last year. I agree BCS gives you a recruiting advantage but we have a dumb*** coach...what I'm saying is going 6-6 or 7-5 in CUSA is not bowl worthy IMHO.

first off...we have to win 2 more games...and IMHO, GA just jinxed us...if we lose to SMU, i'm coming to find you GA! 05-mafia

that said...what do you think is going to happen when you have over 30 bowls? teams with 6-6 or 7-5 records have a shot.

Go Tigers!!!

RE: 5 Bowl Games In Last 6 Years
I think I understand the Tigers point of view. They went through a long dry spell of winning in the Memphis program. These last few years have seen excitment and competitiveness come back to Memphis. That is great. It mirrors what went on at Louisville to some extent, though not to the degree yet. I think it's great that Memphis is going bowling often. There are many teams that can not make that claim, no matter what level bowl you go to. No matter what anyone things, it is a favorable statement to say that you have been to that many bowls. It's even better when you can say you've won the bowls you go to. The Tigers on still on the cusp of being a hard nosed quality winning program consistently. I think they need a new coach to take them over the hump. All in all, the Tigers are a pretty good program.

You are correct that 30 bowls setup this situation. The market should decide if bowls should survive. I'm just saying a 6-6 CUSA team and even a 7-5 CUSA team who played a weak OOC schedule really aren't bowl worthy teams. We have had the same with a few BE teams in the past. Syracuse in 2004 (6-5) wasn't bowl worthy.

That said I wish I had an unworthy 6-6 bowl team to root for. 03-hissyfit

I know all this. But they're just so much fun to mess with... 05-stirthepot

I remember when WVU was in a similar situation. It doesn't seem like all that long ago either...
