RE: Breaking News: Cuse covets UConn's football coach!
You are correct there is always an exception to any rule and situation. However, earning more money, coaching at Michigan, and coaching in the Bog Ten is a lot different than coach at UConn and in the Big East.

RE: Breaking News: Cuse covets UConn's football coach!
It all depends on what he's looking for. If he's already found it, no problem for UConn.
If he's still looking...

I agree Mark having more money is better than having less. That being said, state of CT has been pretty good to UCONN so far since they really want to get UCONN to be on the same level as Michigan or Berkeley someday. UCONN athletic program is also self funded for the most part so they are making money even with a high budget.
BTW, I am ok with SU take Edsall. I am not sure he is the right coach to take UCONN to the next level. I think he is a great coach and I would love to have him stay, but I also think UCONN could benefit with a change also.
I could not agree more. Edsall reminds me of Minnesota's old coach-sure, he'll win you 8 or 9 games (with an OOC softer than sponge cake) a year, but if you ever expect to be more than a middle-of-the-road BCS program, you'll be dissapointed. I'd like to see what an ace recruiter like Steve Addazio at Florida, could do with the program.
I'd settle with someone who ran the option, though, to negate our lack of recruiting. Our O-Line is one of the best at run blocking in the country and our RB's are excellent. We have a 4.4 QB coming in our next recruiting class and some sick young fullbacks. We also wouldn't need to worry about throwing the ballIf we ran the option, we'd instantly become a front-runner for the BE every year.
If Edsall ever left, my top candidates would be...
Steve Addazio-TE coach, UF
Ken Niutomalolo-HC Navy
Troy Calhoun-HC Air Force (my favorite candidate)
An OC from a top BCS program with links to the northeast.
And if I'm Syracuse, I'd consider Turner Gill before Edsall.

Gill has turned UB around which is a pretty good accomplishment, but Edsall is a liitle more proven. If I had my way, I would try to lure the guys from either TCU, or Utah, or Boise, or Tommy Tuberville, or Tommy Bowden, or Addazio, or the guy at Appalachian St.
Someone mentioned that Edsall is not the coach to take Uconn to the next level. Well just look at what the guy has done with some not so great recruits playing in a league like the BE. Imagine what the guy could do with alot of 3 and 4 star recruits.
