Labor union's benefit to employees
"Actually, they've reported losing money for the last three years. I don't know if we actually saw it coming"
Losing money for 3 years and you were still unsure?
This is a perfect example of the incompotence that prevades labor unions...we certainly don't need more of this in our country.
Read the whole article, perfect example of avoiding any sort of forward thinking and forward looking that might have helped this place stay in business.

RE: Labor union's benefit to employees
With the threat of shutting down I wonder how much the unions will cede to stay alive. Some times the unions, in an effort to save face, will let the entire company go down along with all the union jobs.

It's not just pervasive in labor, or we wouldn't be in such a financial mess - it's worldwide too, since America dominates the world market...

It's too late for this bunch. And I'm sure management hasn't helped, doesn't sound like they've updated their product line to match market needs. But, if I ever heard unions complaining about that and offer ideas based on their members' abilities, then I'd pay attention. But, the same ol' bickering about wages and benefits? That doesn't help management look ahead.
