It was a brutal game to watch given the poor offenses of each team. I agree that most MAC programs live in "glass houses" when it comes to attendance, but playing in a NFL stadium with no more than 5,000 folks on hand is pretty ugly to watch on national television.

As an longtime expert on really bad MAC football, I thought both teams showed why they are among the worst (i.e. bottom 25%) teams in the FBS. It looked like a pretty typical MAC game between teams for whom .500 is a record they can only dream about. Poor play abounded. Teams like that aren't going to attract any crowds. Who expected anything different? Other than the occasional aberrational year, this is business as usual for OU, TU, KSU, EMU, UA, and usually UB. Why all the carrying on and gnashing of teeth about a game that had the quality and crowd that is almost exactly typical for both teams? Sheesh...

ESPN has a fair amount of experience at camera angles designed not to draw attention to the empty seats. And it's not just the MAC games. Most non-BCS games on weeknights force them into that kind of low wide shot. I've seen broadcasts from TCU (which usually has decent teams) where it looked like you could find more people in line at Colter's Barbecue than at Amon Carter Stadium.

But spare me the stadium-size smack. It's one of the few things on this board I find even dumber than discussions of the NCAA attendance "rules" [sic].

Instead of all the negativity, attendance bashing, throwing EMU out of the conference, etc. that is constantly promoted on the board, why not look more at a positive once in a while. The attendance falls right in line with this Conference's standards. Of course it will look worse in a 66k seat stadium.

absolutely not empty. the only thing empty was the Ohio side (25 people) ... there were 18K on the Temple side. It's not fudged. The tickets are electronically counted and the Eagles, not Temple, announce the attendance. 18K looks like 5K in a 70K stadium.

Time to get your own stadium???

I would suggest that if you have an issue with a thread, report it. Click on "report this thread" and mods are notified there's a problem. We don't all sit at our computers all day and night reading every thread. Sometimes we need to be alerted to problems in order to fix them, as another mod did by moving this to the smack board.
