RE: Colin Powell for...................
No real surprise here. I'ts always been obvious that he is a independent leaning Republican. I think it shows why McCain will lose badly. He failed to attract and hold this portion of the GOP and the moderate Democrats. Dubya managed this feat...McCain failed mostly because of the war issue.

RE: Colin Powell for...................
I just watched the show. It was a very eloquent, moving endorsement. He's known and been a good friend of McCain for 25 years and he made it clear that he felt both could be good presidents.
But the bigger issue is what he feels the Republican party as a whole is doing. The movement to the right, the divisiveness, and the U.S.'s standing in the world is why he felt Obama was the right choice. There is a real generational gap both in America and the world, and he felt that Obama was the best choice to bring back our respect.
This is a big deal for Obama. It helps with independents and moderate republicans, and also with the military voters in places like North Carolina, Virginia and Florida. Plus Powell mentioned Palin, and how Obama would be better suited to make two new Supreme Court justice appointments as he felt two additional conservative appointments would lead to serious consequences (I read it as a direct attack on Roe v. Wade).

RE: Colin Powell for...................
I think this decides the election, if it wasn't already decided.
Now that it's going to be Obama for sure, can somebody explain to me how things are going to work? If he does what he says he's going to do, I'm convinced it will wreck what little is left of our economy. If he doesn't do what he says he's going to do, I'm afraid those same militant supporters who promised to riot if McCain got elected will.... riot.
Is there any reason why I should want to stay and see what Obama does to America? I'd like one, but so far I don't see one.

Powell has been POed at the Bush Administration and the Republican leadership for the past 4 years. He still feels hung out to dry for the WMD speech he gave before the UN.
Did the neo-cons run him out of the Administration? Sure they did. Powell is just getting his payback.

Keep up the excuses. Can't you just admit that Obama is the better candidate and that the Republican party is out of step with the American people?

No. It shows that Powell is a liberal who would turn on his dear friend of 25 years. I'm disappointed in him.

Saying one is a better candidate than the other still is nothing to be exited about....Both are opposite sides of the same big government coin. The only thing good about electing either of these clowns is that Dubya will be gone.

first thing, what americans? second, are they out of step with people or are the people not sure what they really want? people see national healthcare as a good thing, but they don't understand what they're getting in to. People read 'Employee Free Choice Act' and think it's pro-worker, but once again they don't understand. Why would any party want to pander to geniuses like that?

Don't forget to blame the liberal media. Anything but the republican party.

RE: Colin Powell for...................
SNL got its largest ratings in 16 years when Palin appeared. Either it was liberals wanting to see her self-destruct or just the curious, or conservatives wanting to see her duke it out. If it was the latter, then that "silent majority" may just have a surprise or two on November 4.

Unlike people who have idolized Obama and live by his every word I listen to Rush for info and entertainment and make up my own mind when I have enough facts - it's not like Rush is impartial.
BTW, my scrambled brain is not due to politics, it's due to whiskey, a nagging wife, a screaming kid and a cat that poops on my floor.

Whats the surprise? Powell is voting for Obama because he is black. The same reason 95% of African-Americans are voting that way.

Don't you know it's not politically correct to say that a black person will vote for a black candidate because of his race?

Where is Harry Belafonte now that this "Uncle Tom" has backed a liberal Democrat. I guess Powell is now welcome in the black community after this endorsement and and now a "real black"
