Louisville-Memphis game thread
We have kickoff... UofL starts at their own 28...

Anderson... 1 run 10 yards

and the drive stops... time to punt

Memphis starts their first possession @ their own 15...

and the Tigers are marching right down the field...

FUMBLE!

Cards take over and promptly give it right back on an INT... 03-banghead

Huge break for the Cardinals because that wasn't a fumble. He was clearly on the ground and the ground knocked it loose. Nevermind, Memphis gets it right back on an interception.

I had to take a break from the play by play. The wife wanted some attention and I was only too happy to oblige... 04-bow

Memphis picked their first drive up where it left off to get the TD for a 7-0 lead.

2 changes of possessions later, and here we are with the Cards having the ball at their own 20...

I liked that 4th down call to go for it. The UofL offense hadn't done much to that point. Maybe that'll give 'em some MO...

Not much to report on since. I got to call it quits anyway. I got to take a nap before work... L8r

I hope Louisville plans to play 4 quarters, Memphis hasn't forgotten this is a rivalry and they seem very motivated to post a win over a BCS opponent.

Louisville blocks a field goal at the half and runs it in for a touchdown, 28-14 Cardinals!

This game is a microcosm of our season so far. out play the opponent for 98% of the plays but make HUGE mistakes on the other 2% and screw the pooch. Hopefully, we wont kick the ball deep or kick a 47 yard field goal. If we do that, we still have a fighting chance in this game if Tim Walton can mend the miscoverages. We are absolutely giving this game away. BTW, nice to play the cards agains....even nicer to see the pushing and shoving between plays. usually there is a fight before the game. nobody wants that, but the fact that there is an emotion beyond just playing a football is good to see in a long dormant rivalry

Is is me or is Memphis that much faster than Louisville. Everytime I turn my head at the tv Memphis is having a big play on offense. Solid drive for the Tigers. Can Loiusville finally get a stop.

RE: Louisville-Memphis game thread
td Loiusville... damnit... holding 78...

1st and 20... pass incomplete
2nd and 20 pass dropped by 27
3rd and 20 dump pass to 27 for a minimal gain..

setting up for a field goal.... no good

wtf just happened... I was set to say great reponce and a holding call and a miss field goal ruins everything... wouldn't be surprised if Loiusville ends up losing. 03-banghead

If Louisville tackles like that against Pitt, McCoy will score 6 TDs. Seriously. Louisville has tackled very poorly tonight.

So honestly now, since justin.tv only allowed me to see the blocked FG at end of 1st half, how bad did the Cards look?

RE: Louisville-Memphis game thread
I apologize to the nation for having to watch that sorry excuse for football. Essentially, you just watched a mediocre team beat a team that's just under mediocre. UofL would have lost to 60 or 70 I-A teams tonight, we were just lucky to play a team in the bottom 1/4 of I-A.

Memphis has a nice passing game. That's it. Really, that's it. To only score 14 points against their D is an indictment against what the Cardinal offense has become. Our D had played better this season, but the 2nd half tonight we looked like the D that made Syracuse look like the Patriots last season. We've patented turning what should be surefire 5 yard losses into 25 yard gains for the opponent.

If we play like this the rest of the season, we'll finish 1-6 in league play. I'm comfortable saying I wish we'd fire the head coach at the end of the season, but it won't happen.

They did not look too good. Really, Louisville is very fortunate to even win this game. The turnovers was the difference. But hey, a win is a win no matter how ugly. Congrats Cards. It was a hard faught win.
