Longer term consequences?
So we see the DJIA down by 1/3...so far
Housing values are down by similar numbers...
Is this going to delay the retirement of some baby-boomers?
What is the effect of that on consumer spending?
Will that result in fewer promotions and thus fewer new job openings...resulting in higher unemployment especially for younger people?
Will the retention of higher paid employees slow the economy even further with lower productivity/worker...or will their experience (and proper grammar) keep their productivity/worker higher?
If it's the former, will that cause high unemployment among baby boomers? How does that affect consumer spending?
