Rivalries & Trophies
Dude, I heard a story that WVU refuses to give up the Braxton Trophy that was given to the winner of the UofL vs. WVU game. They don't want to play for it anymore since The Ville joined the BEast. Is this true? How pansy is that? It would seem to be a great game like that between two bordering states would want that trophy match. Is WVU not up to the task?

An afternoon radio show today was dedicated to who Louisville's rivals are. The obvious choice was UK. The second fan choice was WVU. I understand that of late, but was a bit surprised Cincy wasn't there.

I think UofL's rivals in order are...
1) Kentucky (The Governor's Cup)
2) Cincinnati (The Keg of Nails)
3) West Virginia (The Braxton Trophy)
4) Memphis
5) S. Miss
6) Western Kentucky

RE: Rivalries & Trophies
Honestly, before realignment I didn't even know there was a Braxton trophy. If UL and WVU want to play for one, I would suggest starting over and making something new that represents both schools. Doesn't seem to fair to have a rivalry trophy named after a WVU football great

Honestly, I could to without all of this trophy stuff. The only rivaly-trophy I ever cared about as a fan was the Black Diamond trophy that went to the Va Tech/WVU winner. The WVU/Marshall trophy seems espcially manufactured...but so is everything with that series

Does anyone have an image of the Braxton Trophy? or of any of the other trophies played for by BEast members for that matter?

The Victory Bell that Cincinnati and Miami-OH play for is rich in tradition. The Keg of Nails is huge as well.

The Victory Bell is a great trophy, loads of tradition and history.

This, however, is gay:

It's not gay. It just hasn't had tradition and spirit added yet. Give it time and maybe it'll work. Maybe someday USF will have a rival, other than UCF. I hope that something happens with FSU, UF, or Miami. But that'll take a long time too.

Cincinnati/UofL would be more of a rivarly if we could actually beat you in football every once in a while. 03-banghead
