question
I'm coming to the game in my RV and parking (hopefully) where they let us park 2 years ago right next to the stadium. Will I be able to spend the night in that parking lot ? Is it allowed and is it safe ? Seems like 2 years ago we stopped at a WalMart outside Birmingham and spent the night there. I will have my KoKo (my dog) with me for safety.

RE: question
Given the choice of Legion Field parking lot or Wal-Mart, DEFINITELY go with Wal-Mart!!! We wouldn't even wish a night in the LF parking lot on MemPis fans!!! (j/k) 03-lol

Seriously though, I don't even think they're opening LF up to tailgaters until 8am on Thursday. Just another reason why we need an on-campus stadium...but you guys know how that goes.

Hope you guys have a safe trip down on Thursday and have a great time 04-cheers

thanks.....I won't leave Olive Branch till about 9am Thursday morning. We're spending the night Thursday night. Maybe that WalMart parking lot will be where I'll go.

RE: question
missjtiger ~

I hope that the Legion Field parking lot will be unlocked sometime before 10 am on game day to allow the BBQ people in. I'm not counting on it. We're the team that uses it as our home field and we're doing well if its unlocked more than four hours before kickoff on Saturdays.

It's a crappy neighborhood. It's safe enough for game days when there are plenty of folks around and a police presence but spending the night... well, Walmart is a better place to be. If you get there reasonably early parking quite near the stadium should not be a problem.

Drive safely and have a good time. I trust you'll forgive me if I hope you drive back home disappointed in the score. 03-wink

RE: question
Is it too much to expect the proper UAB staff people to converse with the proper Park board staff to arrange for accommodations for the BBQ contest be available in a timely manner? In regard to missjtiger's request, there should be someone at UAB who could answer her questions. Legion Field arrangements should not be left up to individuals asking each other for information. This is a UAB function at a City Park Board location so there should be (by this week) someone in charge to answer any question about the BBQ contest or parking arrangements for RVs. Wednesday night is a lot late to be wondering about basics like opening time. I have never heard whether the BBQ cooked for the contest will be available for purchase at the stadium.

KoKo just doesn't sound like a dog that would provide much protection.05-stirthepot

MissJtiger,
If KoKO is one of the 2 dogs on the right of your sig, you can park anywhere you please. If one of the 2 on the left, stay at WalMart.

Seriously, You've already received good advice from others, I just wanted to add my welcome. Have a safe trip.

RE: question
Actually....KoKo is the standard poodle and believe it or not, you absolutely don't want to mess with him with me around. He is so protective of me it's scary. He is jealous of my male Doberman when he (Kyzer) gets close to me. They have tangled twice now and even though Kyzer is stronger, KoKo is larger, heavier and has a much larger mouth/teeth to bite with. He's just 1 1/2 years old and already weighs 92 lbs. and is still growing. He's very friendly and laid back normally unless someone tries to get too close to me. His looks are very deceiving and that's what makes him a bit dangerous.

What? A 92-lb. poodle? What in God's name are you feeding that thing?

Really? My mom owned two poodles in my lifetime. Neither of them ever got anywhere near that size. Are there different breeds that get different sizes?

They are considered medium to large size breed. I was off on my average weight: Males 70 lbs, females 60 lbs. I know we had 3 when I was younger, and all were over 70+ lbs.

KoKo is very large for his breed. He does eat well but surprisingly not alot. I am very particular about what my dogs eat. They all eat all natural foods and NO table food. KoKo and 2 of my others (Tinkerbelle & Kassie) eat Innova and Kyzer eats Canadae. I am almost totally vegetarian and I spend more money on my dog food than my food. 03-wink

Very wise move, for dogs don't do well with cooked meat, especially fatty meats. It seems to be harder on their pacreases and livers.
