Lane Kiffin to SU?
Interesting idea. I don't know that his Oakland Raiders experience should be viewed as a negative. Who could work for Al Davis?

Kiffin has USC ties as does current AD Darryl Gross.

Someone also managed to put 1+1 together and noted that the Raiders will be in Buffalo this Sunday. Just a short drive down I-90 if you wanted to gauge the interest of a coaching prospect.

How exactly does paring down the list of 100 five-star recruits who want to go to USC down to the 20 you take prepare him for working at SU?

Also, having a bad experience under Davis isn’t exactly a positive either. Shanahan once worked under Davis, clashed, and became a great coach for Denver. However, there’s that Callahan thing also 03-puke

Al Davis is a maniac, I don't blame any coach who gets fired by him.

I have never heard of this guy because I dont follow the NFL much at all, but college coaching seems to run in this guys blood. He has some serious pedigree. I like him.

I think it would be a mistake in SU hires this guy. He is not from the NE so I don't know how long it will take it to recruit here. You don't need to sell too much to get recruits to go to Southern Cal. All you need is drive the kid around LA and show him all the hot babes up and down the place and he will be sold, especially if the kid is from some middle of nowhere USA places.

I believe the Kiffin's also have a Nebraska connection and it was rumored that Lane was interested in the NU job before they hired Pelini. As a Husker fan I would have been happy with either.

RE: Lane Kiffin to SU?
Lane's father, Monte Kiffin, has been a long time NFL DC and a former head coach at NC State with a rather mediocre 16-17 record over three years. Monte was an assistant on the staffs of both Bob Devaney and Tom Osborne at Nebraska, then moved to Arkansas to work as DC for Lou Holtz.

Lane has only had West Coast experience at the college level, working at USC, Colorado St. and Fresno St..

Yeah, I am sure that Skip would love to take another rebuilding job.

True. With ECU in such great shape now, he can definitely afford to wait it out, and let his stock soar, for an optimum situation where he can simply step in.

If WVU was a stepping stone so shall ECU be one. Skip will probably leave as soon as he is paid Top 25 money at a BCS program.

Wow - sounds like you know him. How is he doing? Is he pumped about playing NCSU this weekend?

Tell him I said hello.

Note the word "Probably"

I hope you are just joshing...I didn't take you to be a sarcastic dick 03-lmfao

Bottomline outside of about 15 programs most are stepping stone jobs unless you are a former player at your school.
